The efforts of the Ca Mau Police have gradually raised self-awareness and fostered a culture of safe behavior among children right from their school days, contributing to building a civilized society.
Innovate methods, transform perceptions.
Despite intensified efforts in disseminating and educating the public about traffic safety laws in Ca Mau province, recent statistics continue to worry those working to ensure traffic safety. In just the first four months of 2026, Ca Mau province recorded 12 accidents directly involving this age group.
More importantly, in April 2026 alone, through patrol and inspection activities, authorities issued citations to over 50 individuals and temporarily seized 11 vehicles. Seemingly common violations such as speeding, driving underage, entrusting vehicles to unqualified individuals, not wearing helmets, vehicles lacking rearview mirrors, and even drunk driving, all pose a direct threat to the future and safety of these young people.

To help reduce risks for children, the Traffic Police Department of Ca Mau Provincial Police has recently intensified efforts to innovate traffic law awareness campaigns through various methods, seamlessly combining theory and practice.
A typical example is the extracurricular program "Promoting and Guiding Safe Driving Skills" recently held at Ganh Hao High School (Ganh Hao commune, Ca Mau province), attracting more than 1,000 teachers and students. There, students received thoughtful guidance on everything from wearing a standard helmet and fastening the strap correctly, to staying in the correct lane and on the right side of the road, and even giving up the habit of using mobile phones while driving.

Through realistic simulated scenarios, students hone their observation skills, problem-solving abilities, and safe rerouting techniques to minimize risks.
The highlight of the program is its focus on building a traffic culture in schools, guiding students towards civilized behavior, showing consideration, avoiding pushing and shoving, refraining from speeding and reckless driving, and being ready to share and support those who unfortunately encounter problems on the road…
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Toan, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of Ca Mau Provincial Police, educating students about traffic laws requires persistence and continuity, demanding coordinated efforts between the police force, schools, and families. "When each student raises their awareness of voluntarily complying with the law, they not only protect themselves but also contribute to spreading a culture of safe traffic in the community," the Lieutenant Colonel shared.
Replicating the model, spreading peace.
Not confined to a single space, the message about traffic safety continues to spread widely to many schools throughout the province. At the end of April 2026, the grounds of Le Van Dau High School were filled with excitement when the Traffic Police Department of Ca Mau Province, in coordination with the Vinh Loi Commune Police (Ca Mau Province) and representatives from a transportation company, brought a traffic safety awareness program to over 300 students.

Through their approachable demeanor, the traffic police disseminated the core regulations of the Road Traffic Law, guided the children in recognizing traffic signs, handling everyday situations, and especially directly warned them about the risks of driving before reaching the legal age.
Under the dedicated guidance of law enforcement officers and vehicle technicians, the students enthusiastically practiced safe driving and proper helmet use. Loud applause during the Q&A session, along with practical gifts from the organizers, ignited the young people's passion for learning about the law.
Speaking after the aforementioned extracurricular lesson, Tran Minh Khang, a student from Le Van Dau High School, shared: “Through this awareness session, I deeply understand the dangers that can occur if one lacks awareness when participating in traffic. I promise to strictly abide by the law to protect my own safety and the safety of others.”
Not long before, a similar extracurricular program was successfully held at Song Doc High School (Song Doc commune, Ca Mau province), bringing together more than 1,200 teachers and students. The lively and engaging content, combined with practical driving exercises on a real-life driving course, helped students become more confident in handling situations and complying with traffic laws.

With the motto of using propaganda as the foundation and focusing on awareness, by the beginning of May 2026, the entire traffic police force in Ca Mau had organized nearly 30 propaganda sessions combined with skills training, spreading traffic laws to more than 30,000 teachers and students at dozens of schools in the province.
The Ca Mau Police also closely cooperates with authorities at all levels to expand models for ensuring traffic safety in schools. A prime example is the "Safe Traffic Gate at School" model, implemented by the police in communes and wards in collaboration with the Traffic Police Teams and Stations of the Provincial Police. Hundreds of helmets have been donated to students by the authorities, enhancing their safety and contributing to improved compliance with regulations.
