Ca Mau province is implementing a project to restore and prevent degradation of the Southern Amateur Music Art Memorial Site and musician Cao Van Lau in Bac Lieu ward.
This is one of the famous tourist destinations of Ca Mau province and typical of the Mekong Delta region, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit.
The project has a total investment of nearly 4 billion VND, expected to be completed in 2025, to meet the requirements of heritage conservation and local tourism development.
The memorial area is located on Ninh Binh Street, Bac Lieu Ward, recognized by the Mekong Delta Tourism Association as a typical tourist destination and recognized by the People's Committee of Bac Lieu Province (old) as a 4-star OCOP product in the tourism sector.
The memorial site is also a national historical site and one of the 12 typical tourist attractions in the Mekong Delta. After many years of exploitation, due to the impact of weather and environment, many items in the campus have been seriously degraded.
The memorial area of Southern amateur music and musician Cao Van Lau is always one of the destinations chosen by many tourists whenever they have the opportunity to visit Bac Lieu.
This is not only a way to express affection for the talented musician, but also a way for those who love the art of Don ca tai tu to learn more deeply about the values of the art form honored by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
When coming to the Memorial Area, visitors will be able to visit works and items such as: Moonlight zither, statue of musician Cao Van Lau and stone musical instrument garden, Southern amateur music art exhibition house and Cai Luong stage, exhibition house about the life and career of musician Cao Van Lau along with the history of the formation of Da Co Hoai Lang.

After the Department of Planning and Investment approved the technical economic report, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the contractor to implement upgrade items such as: Raising the backyard foundation, installing a water pump system to prevent flooding, renovating collapsed areas, renovating the souvenir shop and the amateur music performance house...
In reality, despite the construction in unfavorable weather conditions due to erratic rain and sunshine, the construction unit still strives to speed up the progress, ensure quality and strictly comply with the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage to preserve the original value of the relic site.
The restoration and prevention of degradation of the Cao Van Lau Musician Memorial Site in Bac Lieu Ward not only helps preserve the national relic with unique cultural values, but also contributes to preserving the historical values of the relic site, promoting the art of Don Ca Tai Tu - a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity, and at the same time creating a highlight to attract tourists to Ca Mau province./.
