With nearly 99% of the votes counted, the two opposition parties, the March Forward Party (MFP) and the Pheu Thai Party (Pheu Thai), are temporarily leading in the Thai House of Representatives election, far surpassing the remaining parties in terms of the number of parliamentary seats.

According to the preliminary results of the House of Representatives election published on the website of the Election Commission of Thailand, as of 7:30 a.m. on May 15, the Forward Party with Prime Minister candidate Pita Limjaroenrat is leading with 151 seats in the new House of Representatives. Of these, 113 MPs are elected by constituency and 38 MPs are elected by party list.
Notably, in the capital Bangkok, the Forward Party won a big victory with 32 out of 33 parliamentary seats and the remaining seat went to the Pheu Thai Party.
Following closely behind the Forward Party is the Pheu Thai Party with 141 seats in the House of Representatives, including 112 seats by constituency and 29 seats by party list. Thus, compared to the 2019 election, in this year's election, the Pheu Thai Party only won 5 more seats, failing to reach the target of 300 seats set before the election.
Coming in third is the Thai Pride Party of current Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. In this year's election, the party won 70 seats, up 19 seats from the 2019 election. This includes 67 seats by constituency and 3 seats by party list.
Coming in fourth and fifth place were Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan's People Power Party with 40 seats and incumbent Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha's United Thai Nation Party with 36 seats.
Temporarily leading in the election, but unlikely to win an absolute majority in parliament , the Forward Party is planning to negotiate a coalition government with the Pheu Thai Party and other former opposition parties.
On May 15, vote counting will continue at polling stations across the country. Official results are expected to be announced within the next 60 days.
