According to Circular No. 50/2025/TT-BCT, from June 1, 2026, unleaded gasoline in Vietnam must be blended and processed into E10 gasoline (fuel containing 10% bioethanol) for use in gasoline engines nationwide.
To ensure this transition is safe and effective, the Department of Industry ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) requests the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), the Vietnam Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (VAMM), and businesses in the industry to proactively review and determine the compatibility of vehicle models currently being manufactured, imported, and circulated in the market with this new fuel.
The Department of Industry requires automakers to conduct detailed assessments based on core technical factors. These assessments must review the compatibility of engines, fuel injection systems, fuel delivery systems, and materials in direct contact with fuel.

Automotive manufacturers are requested to review the compatibility of their cars and motorcycles before the nationwide rollout of E10 gasoline on June 1, 2026.
In addition, businesses must assess the impact of E10 gasoline on operational efficiency, fuel consumption, emissions, and engine durability. If necessary, manufacturers must provide specific maintenance or replacement requirements to ensure stable vehicle operation.
The review results will be compiled into a clear list, including: vehicle models that are fully compatible with E10 gasoline, vehicle models that are compatible under certain conditions (with technical recommendations), and vehicle models for which E10 gasoline is not recommended (clearly stating the reasons and solutions).
The Department of Industry emphasized that car manufacturers need to proactively publish official guidelines to their dealerships, service centers, and consumers regarding the use of E10 gasoline for each specific vehicle model. Special attention should be paid to vehicles that have been in use for many years or have undergone technical structural changes.
Alongside the evaluation, businesses must establish procedures for receiving and handling customer feedback related to E10 gasoline. Dealerships and service centers need to prepare sufficient personnel and materials to provide timely technical support, avoiding confusion for users during the initial fuel transition period.
Associations and businesses are required to compile implementation results and report them to the Department of Industry before June 5, 2026, for consolidation and reporting to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Proactive compatibility checks are considered a fundamental solution to minimize technical problems and contribute to the sustainable development of green energy in line with the government 's policy.
Previously, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan stated that E10 bioethanol fuel has been researched, tested, and evaluated as suitable for most vehicles currently in circulation. Using E10 fuel not only helps reduce environmental emissions but also contributes to reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels, promoting the consumption of domestic biofuels, creating outlets for agricultural production, and enhancing national energy self-sufficiency.
