6 communes in the western region of Lang Son province are located in the revolutionary base area of Bac Son - Vo Nhai, where the Bac Son Uprising took place and marked on September 27, 1940. Therefore, in these communes, there are 27 relic sites and sites (1 special national relic site, 3 national relic sites, 10 provincial relic sites ) and 13 relics that have been scientifically inventoried. Along with that, 6 communes in the western region of the province also have many beautiful landscapes, majestic cave systems, as well as many traditional festivals held annually, many folk songs and dances such as Then singing, Vi singing, Quan Lang singing, Chau dancing, Sli singing, and traditional occupations that are preserved.

Typically, Vu Le commune, after merging 3 old communes of Bac Son district (Vu Le, Chien Thang, Vu Son), currently has 5 tourist attractions known to many tourists including: Hang Hu tangerine garden, Mo Mam stream, Bac Son Hoa ecological and experience site, Hoan Trung village community tourism site and Khuoi Noi historical relic.
Mr. Hoang Quang Phiet, Vice Chairman of Vu Le Commune People's Committee, said: With 5 existing tourist spots, the Commune People's Committee has directed specialized departments to regularly propagate and mobilize people to actively participate in tourism development, creating a friendly environment to attract domestic and foreign tourists and international tourists to visit tourist spots in the commune. At the same time, the Commune People's Committee also encourages the people of the commune to learn from the experience of developing community tourism in other localities to find a tourism direction suitable to the commune's reality. In addition, in recent times, the commune has always paid attention to investing, renovating and upgrading roads to tourist spots to make it more convenient for tourists.
With its tourism potential and the right way of doing tourism, Vu Le has now become an attractive destination for tourists from all over the world to visit and experience. According to statistics from the People's Committee of the commune, in the first 9 months of 2025 alone, the total number of visitors to visit and experience historical sites and tourist attractions in the commune was over 43,700, with revenue reaching over 8.7 billion VND. This has significantly contributed to the economic growth of Vu Le commune.
Along with Vu Le, Bac Son commune also has many beautiful natural landscapes, with limestone mountains, many caster caves plus flat fields, next to a clear, winding stream. Along with that is a craft village making handmade yin-yang tiles, a primeval ironwood forest, plus village architecture with many traditional stilt houses... In particular, Bac Son commune is also a place that preserves cultural features imbued with the traditional cultural identity of the Tay ethnic group with many unique festivals... The above factors are favorable conditions for developing community tourism.
In fact, in addition to 27 relic sites, in the area of 6 communes in the western region of Lang Son province, there are currently 3 community tourism sites, 3 eco-tourism sites and 4 historical and cultural tourism sites. With revolutionary historical traditions, unique local cultural features, along with beautiful natural landscapes, tourist sites in the area of 6 communes have been attracting tourists.
Talking with the leaders of the People's Committees of 6 communes in the western region of the province, it is known that, based on natural, historical, cultural values, etc., the 6 communes have been implementing synchronous solutions to exploit tourism resources and potentials and advantages to build unique tourism products to contribute to promoting the tourism industry.
In particular, in recent times, the communes have focused on developing historical, cultural, and eco-tourism, especially community tourism associated with agriculture. Most notably, all 6 communes are currently implementing a number of agricultural development projects combined with tourism. In particular, many tourist attractions such as passion fruit gardens (Mo Hao), Mo Mam area, Bac Son commune rice fields; tours to explore and visit tangerine gardens in the area; visit and experience tourism at vineyards in Bac Son commune, Vu Le commune... are attracting a large number of domestic and foreign visitors.
With these methods, the total number of tourists to the 6 communes in the first 9 months of 2025 reached more than 100,000, exceeding the plan set for 2025.
Towards sustainable tourism development
It is known that, in order to develop sustainable tourism, gradually turning tourism into a spearhead economic sector by 2030, 6 communes (Bac Son, Vu Lang, Hung Vu, Nhat Hoa, Vu Le, Tan Tri) are and will continue to build tourism products, especially tourism products imbued with the cultural identity of local ethnic groups.
Talking with leaders of People's Committees of 6 communes, It is known that from July 1, 2025 to present, after organizing the local government apparatus according to the two-level model, the 6 communes after the merger continue to inherit and implement the Tourism Development Project of Bac Son district (old).
Accordingly, the communes are continuing to aim to develop outstanding tourism products such as: Cultural and historical tourism (festivals, historical relics, etc.) , community tourism, discovery tourism (exploring natural landscapes, caves, experiencing people's lives), eco-tourism, agricultural tourism ( rafting, fishing, experiencing a day as a farmer, etc.) ; continuing to preserve, promote, and organize unique traditional festivals of the communes.
Mr. Trinh Minh Tuan, Chairman of Bac Son Commune People's Committee, said: The commune is focusing on promoting tourism development to leverage the commune's economic growth. To develop tourism, the commune's policy is to develop and enhance the value of tourist attractions in the commune, especially community tourism. At the same time, the commune focuses on expanding areas growing citrus fruits (tangerines), grapes, etc. to develop eco-tourism and community tourism associated with agricultural production.
Regarding the orientation of tourism development in the coming time, Mr. Hoang Quang Phiet, Vice Chairman of Vu Le Commune People's Committee said: To concretize the long-term development goal, and at the same time continue to implement the Tourism Development Project of the old Bac Son district, in the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress for the term 2025 - 2030, Vu Le Commune Party Committee has set a target to strive to develop 2 new tourist destinations by 2030, Khuon Khat village and Khuon Bong cave, and at the same time gradually build the Vu Le tourism brand associated with the cultural and historical identity of Bac Son homeland.
It is known that from now until 2030, the communes will continue to mobilize and effectively use resources for building essential infrastructure, attracting socialized resources to focus on building and upgrading infrastructure. In particular, the communes will promote attracting investment projects to the area, especially investment projects in the service and tourism sectors, thereby ensuring a solid foundation for the communes to develop their economies, while also contributing to further promoting tourism development.
With the tourism development solutions that have been, are being and will be implemented, it can be seen that 6 communes in the western region of Lang Son province are striving to make tourism an important and spearhead economic sector. In particular, with the full focus on sustainable tourism development, the western region of Lang Son province will become one of the key tourism areas of Lang Son province, in accordance with the Planning and Strategy for tourism development of the province in the coming years.
