Ego is not synonymous with conservatism

At work, everyone has the right to express and defend their own views. This is also a characteristic that each candidate can use to create a good impression with employers when looking for jobs in Hai Phong, Bac Ninh or Hanoi ... because the personal ego will provide more perspectives, many different options, contributing to untangling bottlenecks so that the work can be implemented more smoothly and effectively.

However, do not confuse ego with conservatism. The gap between these two concepts is very fragile, if you do not have good control, your words, actions and attitudes will gradually turn into rigidity.

Conservatism is manifested in thinking that you are always right, stubbornly defending your own point of view, ignoring and harshly refuting the dissenting opinions of colleagues without considering right or wrong, appropriate or inappropriate. Conservatism does not allow you to admit your mistakes, from which debates with the purpose of giving advice and constructively turn into endless quarrels.

Conservatism is like a “string that binds progress”, making the working atmosphere tense, relationships between people become disharmonious, leading to work stagnation and deadlock. In particular, conservatives will gradually push themselves away from the collective because no one is willing to cooperate or make friends with a conservative.

The individual ego must be reconciled with the collective interest.

Your boss often asks you to be assertive, but if you're too assertive, you're likely to offend your boss.

In a company, the top leader is always the one who has the final say and sometimes, the boss's decision is completely different from your proposal. It's not because your boss doesn't respect you, but maybe because your vision is not comprehensive enough and you can't foresee all possible situations to ensure the best interests of the company.

Personal ego should be expressed before decisions are made, with the meaning of contributing constructively and advising the leadership.

Once the leader has made the final decision, you should not continue to argue or defend your point of view to the end because your ego at that time cannot help you change anything, it will only turn you into a stubborn, conservative person and make your boss look at you with a different attitude.

A person who knows how to balance personal ego and collective interests is always clear-headed, fair, knows how to distinguish right from wrong, right from wrong, loss from gain to know where to stop and never exceed the limit.

Boldly expressing your own opinions, expressing your own views and style while listening to and respecting the opinions of the group is the way of working of professionals. Remember, admitting and correcting mistakes does not mean losing your stance but helps you cultivate a spirit of learning and knowing how to integrate into the group.

This does not mean that if your boss tells you to go in direction A, you must go in direction A, and you have no right to express your opinions or to present dissenting views. When you feel that something is not satisfactory, discuss it directly with your leader to make adjustments if possible. But express your views in a proper, humble manner and always show respect.

Personal ego in work should absolutely not be abandoned, nor should it be stubbornly kept, but should be expressed at the right time, right place and especially in harmony with the interests of the collective. Be frank in expressing and defending your own point of view if that is really necessary to bring about higher work efficiency, helping the company develop better.
