This is the case of Ms. Thach Thi Sa Venl (67 years old) and her grandchildren Chau Thi Nhu (7 years old), Chau Vinh (6 years old), and Chau Tuan (5 years old), who live in a subsidized house that is dilapidated, with rickety wooden doors, a damp and open floor, and is unsafe...

Life was constantly filled with hardship for the four of them. When we visited, the three youngest children sat quietly beside bowls of plain rice with soy sauce; only occasionally did they receive rice, fish, soup, and vegetables thanks to the generosity of their neighbors.

Mrs. Sa Venl has suffered from cardiovascular disease for many years. Her health is steadily declining, and she is frequently tired, sometimes dizzy, and even faints. But for the sake of her three young grandchildren, she tries to endure each day. "I'm old now, and there have been days when I thought I wouldn't make it through the heart attacks. The children are all gone; if I don't try to keep going, I don't know what will happen to them," Mrs. Sa Venl said, her voice choked with emotion.

Nhu, Vinh, and Tuan's mother left when they were young. Their father also hasn't been in contact for quite some time. Since then, all the burden of caring for and raising them has fallen on the frail shoulders of their elderly grandmother.

With no land and no stable occupation, Mrs. Sa Venl's family mainly relies on the support of neighbors and meager local aid during holidays and festivals. However, what worries Mrs. Venl most is not just food and clothing, but the future of her three grandchildren. Because they lack birth certificates, the children haven't been able to get birth registration papers and therefore cannot attend school like other children their age. "The children keep asking when they can go to school, and I don't know how to answer..." Mrs. Venl said sadly.

According to Mr. Huynh Van Tien, Head of the People's Committee of Xay Da B hamlet, the family of Ms. Thach Thi Sa Venl is a particularly difficult case in the locality. Previously, the State provided them with a "Great Solidarity" house, but for over 10 years, the house has seriously deteriorated. The family has no stable income, and their lives mainly depend on the help of neighbors and local support. The circumstances of the four family members urgently need the attention and assistance of all levels of government, sectors, and philanthropists, so that Ms. Sa Venl can have more support to overcome her illness, and the children can have the opportunity to go to school and gradually stabilize their lives.
