Many drastic solutions are needed to preserve the cultural values of the Chut people.

(Fatherland) - The fact that the Chut ethnic group in Quang Binh has different levels of economic development among groups, living in different terrains, backward production practices, fragmented terrain, and a high poverty rate inevitably leads to many difficulties in cultural development. To preserve and develop the culture of the Chut ethnic group in the conditions of a market economy is extremely difficult...

Cultural values of the Chut ethnic group

Nowadays, the material and spiritual life of the Chut ethnic group has been stabilized and gradually improved, learning about the origin of their cultural identity is extremely important, not to let their culture be obscured over time. In particular, learning about the culture of the Chut ethnic community in Quang Binh , a part of the Chut culture in the unified and diverse Vietnamese culture with the community of ethnic brothers is a necessary and urgent task.

Folk culture performed by artists from the Chut ethnic group

Preserving and promoting traditional cultural values does not destroy their national identity. In addition to building a progressive lifestyle among the Chut ethnic groups, it is necessary to consolidate and promote the good values of ethics and traditional lifestyles, selectively absorb new cultural values suitable for the Chut people in their new life. The intangible cultural heritages of the Chut ethnic group in Western Quang Binh reflect their lifestyle and aspirations in many aspects, expressing their intelligence, morality, emotions, and aesthetic tendencies in their place of residence, affirming the lasting values of the cultural identity that they have built for generations in the Western border region.

In recent years, despite the attention of the Party Committee, the government, mass organizations and the response of the Chut people, the work of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values of the people has gradually become routine. However, there are still some limitations, the propaganda work is not regular, the awareness of some ethnic groups of the Chut people about the cultural heritage values in some villages and hamlets is not correct, affecting the work of preserving and promoting values.

Therefore, in the coming time, it is necessary to have practical and feasible solutions, continue to innovate, promote propaganda about the grassroots, about each village, each Chut ethnic group, mobilize state funds for the work of preserving and promoting cultural values. It is very necessary to have correct and reasonable orientations and solutions, suitable for the current development trend, ensuring the balance between preservation and development, joining hands with ethnic minorities in general and Chut ethnic groups in particular.

Basic conservation solutions for Chut ethnic culture

According to Mr. Ta Dinh Ha, Chief of Office of the Vietnam Heritage Association in Quang Binh province, the basic preservation of the Chut ethnic culture in Quang Binh is currently not fully recognized in localities or is confused in choosing traditional values and typical cultural characteristics for preservation, and some solutions have been implemented but the results are not high, even causing misunderstandings about the mission of preserving their traditional culture.

The final important issue of decisive significance is that it is necessary to include the issue of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values (folk culture) in the content of the Resolution of local authorities at all levels. If we do not consider the preservation and promotion of this invaluable asset as an urgent matter that needs to be done immediately, because later on, even if we have money and means, we will no longer have the opportunity to do it…

Mr. Ta Dinh Ha , Chief of Office of Vietnam Heritage Association, Quang Binh province said.

Preserving the traditional culture of the Chut ethnic group is a story that needs much discussion. In the immediate future, in order to prevent their cultural heritage from being lost, it is necessary to further strengthen information and propaganda work to raise awareness of the cultural values of the Ruc, Arem, May, Sach, and Ma Lieng ethnic groups in the current socio-economic and cultural development of the mountainous region of Quang Binh.

Implementing the policies and decisions of the Prime Minister on providing information and communication means for the people, disseminating information nationwide and in the province. Especially implementing Resolution No. 33 - NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee (11th tenure) "On building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development". In which, training and fostering a team specializing in disseminating information to ethnic minorities in general and Chut people in particular, especially the policies being implemented.

Cultural and artistic exchange of the Chut people between localities

Currently, very few collectors are Chut people, and when others come, their languages are different, "it is very difficult to record the folk culture of one's own people, at the same time, we must make them respect their mother tongue, respect the folk culture of their own people and have the responsibility to preserve and promote together the good human values of their own folk culture" so it is necessary to pay attention to training the children of the Chut people in collecting the folk culture of their own people.

We must focus on key goals, such as preserving the cultural values of ethnic groups at high risk of extinction, such as the Ruc, May, and Arem. We must continue to organize cultural exchanges between regions and ethnic groups. We must fully introduce the identity of each ethnic group, respect cultural diversity, not be self-conscious, not be conservative, and ensure democracy in cultural preservation.

To do this, the state continues to support investment in the creation and dissemination of literary and artistic works, cultural works on the subject of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas, contributing to raising people's knowledge, changing perceptions and backward lifestyles, eliminating bad customs, building cultural villages, hamlets, and communes. Developing education and training, constantly improving the intellectual level of the people, because they are the subjects and beneficiaries of the beauty and uniqueness of that culture.

We need to continue to organize the collection, statistics, exploitation of information, and cataloging of intangible cultural forms that are still latent in potential form among the people, among village elders, landowners, and village chiefs that are at risk of being lost, or at risk of them passing away forever, taking the "living library" underground. Record, film, and print them into books. Build art troupes and cultural and artistic clubs in villages and hamlets.

Maintain and promote classes to teach folk culture to generations, especially ethnic youth. Priority should be given to the goals of preserving and promoting typical cultural values of the Chut ethnic group, paying attention to the fields of performing arts and festivals, effectively serving tourists who want to learn and explore the land and people here...
