From today, July 15, BIDV stops transactions for 14-digit accounts.

Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) officially stopped trading accounts with 14 digits from July 15.

BIDV Bank has officially stopped withdrawing, transferring money and receiving money to accounts with 14 digits. This is an important transition in the bank's account system to synchronize and optimize customer experience. According to the new regulations, customers are required to use shortened accounts (with lengths from 3 - 8 and 10 digits) instead of 14-digit accounts at BIDV so as not to affect transactions.

BIDV said that the shortened account number has been displayed on account statements and accounting documents printed from BIDV's Core Banking system. In addition, customers can also easily look up this information through the BIDV iBank or BIDV SmartBanking applications, which fully display both the shortened account number and the corresponding QR code.

In case of needing support, customers can contact BIDV hotline at 19009247 (for individual customers), 19009248 (for corporate customers) or go directly to the nearest transaction point. The bank also reminds customers to proactively update their shortened account numbers for partners, payroll units, relatives and other related parties to avoid disruptions in the transaction process.

BIDV affirms that changing the account number is a technical transition and does not affect the rights and obligations between the bank and the customer as previously signed.

Previously, BIDV announced that it would stop transactions for 14-digit accounts from January 15, but then extended it to July 15. For more than a year, BIDV has served all customer transactions on both new and old accounts. According to the bank, the account shortening process will take four digits from the fourth position onwards. For example, the old account number 532 1000 1234567 will be shortened to 532 1234567.
