Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh requested the Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport to focus on training human resources in high-speed rail and urban rail to meet future needs.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Phuong, the school's Rector, reported on the achievements in training, science and technology, personnel organization, and international cooperation.
Over the years, the university has trained and provided high-quality human resources in key areas of transportation such as construction, logistics, and maritime transport... and is the first university in Vietnam to train and access high-speed rail technology.
Furthermore, in implementing the Party and Government 's resolutions on restructuring and streamlining the organizational apparatus, the school is a pioneer in consolidating its organizational and management system to improve operational efficiency.

From 2020 to the present, the school has reduced 11 internal departments (from 39 streamlined departments to 28), achieving a reduction rate of nearly 30%.
Furthermore, in streamlining the training management system, the university was the first to dissolve 45 departments and transition to a new model of managing training programs (director, training program manager) in a modern direction, in accordance with the regulations of the Law on Higher Education.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Tran Hong Minh highly appreciated the rapid development and quality of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport in recent years. The Minister was also impressed with the school's facilities and professional teaching environment.
The Minister encouraged the university to continue leveraging its strengths in bridging theory and practice, while expanding international cooperation to improve the quality of training and research, prioritizing core industries, especially high-speed rail, urban rail, and automation applications.
The Minister urged the university's lecturers to continuously innovate teaching methods and apply advanced science and technology to their lectures. Graduates must possess the skills and expertise to meet practical needs. The university should also prioritize sectors with high demand for human resources, such as high-speed rail, urban rail, and logistics; and broaden thinking and elevate the level of scientific research.
The Minister suggested that the school continue to build on its strengths in training.
To ensure the effectiveness of the work, Minister Tran Hong Minh requested the school to continue to unite in order to achieve the set goals, further enhance the school's brand to become a leading institution in transportation training in the South as well as the whole country.
The Minister and the delegation presented the school with a commemorative gift.
Regarding some proposals and requests concerning infrastructure and land, Minister Tran Hong Minh said that he would soon work with relevant agencies and localities to provide support and resolve them.
