The People's Committee of Thu Duc City has recently submitted a report to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City regarding the progress of compensation and resettlement support for the construction project of Ring Road 2 in Thu Duc City.

According to the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, the Ring Road 2 project, section 1 from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street (including Binh Thai intersection), has a length of over 3.5km, an estimated land acquisition area of approximately 47.66 hectares, and affects about 893 cases.

For the Ring Road 2 project, section 2 from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street is nearly 2.5km long, affecting 258 households.

The People's Committee of Thu Duc City has directed relevant units to urgently carry out the necessary procedures to implement compensation and resettlement support work, striving to complete the disbursement of allocated investment capital in 2024.

To date, the Ring Road 2 project has completed several tasks, including the preparation and approval of the current status map, the location of land acquisition for the project, the placement of boundary markers, and the handover of boundaries in the field; and the issuance of land acquisition notices. In addition, an inventory of the current status of houses and land in affected cases has been conducted.

Currently, the relevant units are focusing on verifying the legal status of land and houses, gathering information, and preparing for land valuation...

Regarding resettlement, the projected resettlement needs are 555 land plots and 58 apartment units (section 1); and 102 land plots and 10 apartment units (section 2).

For apartments, the total resettlement need is 58 units; the number of available apartments is 771, which basically meets the need.

Regarding land plots, the total resettlement need is 657 plots across both phases, while the number already available is 550 plots (in the resettlement areas: Long Buu (phase 2), 50-hectare Cat Lai, Gia Hoa, Dai Nhan Company housing area, and Dong Tang Long). Therefore, there is a shortfall compared to the demand.

Therefore, Thu Duc City proposes that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee promptly allocate two land plots at 118 Dang Van Bi Street, Binh Tho Ward, and 15/6C Dang Van Bi Street, Truong Tho Ward. These are two land plots that were reclaimed from Sanofi-Synthelabo Vietnam Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company for investment in the construction of a resettlement area to serve the resettlement needs of the Ring Road 2 project and other key projects in Thu Duc City, as proposed by the Thu Duc City People's Committee. Both land plots are expected to accommodate 87-120 land plots, which, combined with the aforementioned resettlement areas, would meet the demand.

The Ring Road 2, planned since 2007, is 64km long and has 6-10 lanes. The route starts from Nguyen Van Linh (Binh Chanh District), crosses Phu My Bridge (District 7), continues to Binh Thai intersection, connects to Go Dua interchange (Thu Duc City), ends at National Highway 1, and then loops back to Nguyen Van Linh, forming a ring road around Ho Chi Minh City.

To date, 50km has been completed, with the remaining 14km divided into 4 sections. Construction is expected to begin on the two sections in Thu Duc in the first quarter of 2025.
