Adware is advertising software hidden in free applications, often installed without the user noticing. According to Kaspersky, once present on a device, the adware will track browsing history and display ads based on that data.
Security firm Sophos says many adware are also pre-selected during installation, making it easy for users to ignore. More than just a nuisance, Norton LifeLock warns that adware slows down your device and eats up system resources.
Technology company McAfee said the adware can collect personal information such as IP addresses and search history and sell it to third parties. More dangerously, Kaspersky warns that adware can lead users to phishing websites or download other malicious code. To prevent this, McAfee recommends that users use reputable security software and update it regularly.
Norton LifeLock stresses that users need to be vigilant, not click on strange pop-ups and remove suspicious extensions. Dear readers, please watch more videos : Online kidnapping scam scenario "psychologically manipulates" many victims | VTV24
