ANTD.VN - The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (VINAFRUIT) urgently informs about some subjects who have fraudulently copied the durian growing area code and durian packing facility code.
Fraud in durian export affects the industry and business reputation |
VINAFRUIT said that some subjects have fraudulently copied the codes of growing areas and durian packing facilities through contracts authorizing the use of codes with fake and homemade seals and signatures to defraud businesses; bypassing state agencies to profit and clear customs for export to the Chinese market.
VINAFRUIT strongly opposes this situation. According to the Association, this serious violation not only directly affects the reputation of the Vietnamese durian industry, loses the trust of Chinese and international consumers, but also causes great damage to genuine durian producers and businesses.
Authorities of importing countries may tighten control over Vietnamese durian, affecting the export activities of businesses (due to the code being revoked by China for violating quality regulations).
Besides, fraudulent behavior creates unfair competition in the market, causing damage to durian production and trading enterprises according to regulations.
Therefore, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association recommends that relevant authorities strengthen inspection, supervision, and close review of durian packaging and exporting facilities, and strictly handle violations that have been reported or not; Complete the database of growing area codes and packaging facility codes, making it easier to manage and trace the origin of products;
Publicize the list of qualified durian production and packaging facilities to help consumers choose reliable products.
The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association calls on businesses and durian producers to join hands to protect the reputation of the industry and strictly comply with legal regulations.
According to VINAFRUIT representative, durian export reached more than 3.1 billion USD in 11 months of 2024, accounting for nearly half of the fruit and vegetable export turnover in 2024. China is still the leading market for Vietnamese durian consumption, accounting for 90% of the total turnover, equivalent to more than 2.8 billion USD in 11 months. This level increased by 43% compared to the same period in 2023.
Thailand ranked second, importing about 177 million USD worth of durian, up 82% over the same period last year. The markets of Hong Kong (China) and Japan also recorded growth of 16% and 85% respectively compared to last year.
Vietnamese durian exports to Cambodia alone increased 139 times, reaching nearly 3 million USD.
This year's fruit and vegetable export turnover is estimated at 7.1 billion USD, up nearly 27% over the same period last year. Thus, durian accounts for nearly half of the revenue from fruit and vegetable exports.
