Cao Bang has implemented many solutions to support illiteracy eradication for people aged 15-60 in ethnic minority areas, areas with especially difficult socio- economic conditions, and border areas; maintaining and improving the results of achieving the illiteracy eradication standards achieved by 2024.
According to the Departmentof Education and Training of Cao Bang province, by the end of 2024, the total population aged 15-60 in the province is 367,320 people, of which the number of literate people is 336,265 people, reaching 91.57%, the number of level 1 illiterate people is 3,027 people, accounting for 0.82%, the number of level 2 illiterate people is 30,965 people, accounting for 8.43%.
The total population aged 15 - 35 is 185,013 people, of which 181,078 people are literate, reaching 97.83%, and 4,025 people are illiterate, accounting for 2.17%.

Before the merger, the whole province had 3/161 commune-level units meeting level 1 standards, accounting for 0.2%; 158/161 commune-level units meeting level 2 standards, reaching 98%; maintaining level 2 literacy standards.
Illiteracy eradication is one of the important indicators under criterion number 14 (Education and Training) in the National Criteria for New Rural Areas for the period 2021-2025.
Literacy eradication is extremely important in improving people's knowledge, developing human resources and building a learning society. Literacy eradication not only helps people learn to read and write but also opens up opportunities for learning, improving their lives and actively participating in economic and social activities.
