During the peak of the hot season, Ha Tinh province reached its electricity consumption record high.

(Baohatinh.vn) - Intense heat has caused a sudden surge in electricity consumption in Ha Tinh, exceeding the peak levels of 2025. The relevant authorities advise customers to use electricity sparingly to help reduce pressure on the grid during peak hours.

Mr. Mai Thanh Tung, Head of the Dispatching Department of Ha Tinh Power Company, said: “On May 25th, the peak power (Pmax) of the Ha Tinh power grid reached 460.9 MW at 12:30 PM, an increase of 6.8% compared to the highest peak power level of 2025. The total electricity consumption of the province reached over 7.8 million kWh, an increase of 11.9% compared to the day with the highest consumption of the previous year.”

Electricity consumption in Ha Tinh has increased dramatically in recent days.

According to experts, electricity demand increased most sharply during the hours of 12:30-15:30 and 21:00-23:00. The main reason is the rising temperature, causing people, agencies, and businesses to simultaneously use air conditioners, electric fans, and many other high-power cooling devices.

Thanh Sen Power Company currently serves over 53,800 customers, of which more than 60% are residential customers. During peak hot days, the high demand for household electricity causes the load on the power lines and substations managed and operated by the company to increase by approximately 40% compared to the previous period.

Mr. Dau Xuan Long, Deputy Head of Thanh Sen Power Company, said: “The unit has mobilized personnel to operate 24/7 to monitor the power grid status, especially on high-load power lines. At night, operating staff take turns on duty in key areas to promptly detect and handle incidents. In particular, important locations such as the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, hospitals, police stations, and press agencies are placed under special monitoring to ensure safe and continuous power supply.”

Along with increasing operational readiness, Thanh Sen Power Company also advises customers to continue changing their electricity usage habits during the hot season to reduce pressure on the system and limit the increase in electricity bills.

Accordingly, people are advised to limit the simultaneous use of multiple high-power electrical appliances during peak hours; set air conditioners to 26 degrees Celsius or higher in combination with using fans; turn off unnecessary electrical appliances when not in use; and prioritize the use of energy-saving appliances. In addition, the electricity sector is also stepping up its efforts to promote and encourage people and businesses to invest in rooftop solar power installations to ensure a reliable power supply and help reduce the load on the grid during peak daytime hours.

The operating parameters of each power line and substation are closely monitored via software at the remote control center of Ha Tinh Power Company.

In the southern part of Ha Tinh province, Ky Anh Power Company is also facing significant pressure as the load continues to increase due to the simultaneous rise in electricity demand for both residential and industrial production. Particularly in the Vung Ang Economic Zone, many factories producing batteries, electric cars, electric motorcycles, along with wood processing and construction material businesses, have increased their operating capacity, leading to a sharp increase in electricity consumption.

Mr. Dang Don Son, Head of Ky Anh Power Company, said: “To ensure electricity supply for daily life and business production, the unit has deployed personnel to closely monitor the operational status of power lines; and increased the application of modern equipment such as flycams and thermal cameras to inspect, detect potential incidents early, and handle them promptly. At the same time, we are coordinating with relevant units to accelerate the progress of power grid investment projects in the area, such as: the project to build two power lines to supply electricity to the VinFast electric motorcycle factory in Ha Tinh; and the project to invest in a power grid to prevent overload during hot weather in Ky Thuong and Ky Hoa communes...”.

Ha Tinh Power Company is accelerating the progress of the project to build two power lines to supply electricity to the VinFast Ha Tinh electric vehicle manufacturing plant (Vung Ang Economic Zone).

According to meteorological forecasts, Ha Tinh will continue to experience intense heat and rising temperatures in the coming days. This means that electricity demand will remain high, putting significant pressure on the power system, especially in densely populated areas and regions with high residential electricity consumption.

Currently, the Ha Tinh power sector is intensifying inspections of the operational status of each power line and substation; closely monitoring load fluctuations in key areas and proactively developing plans to handle incidents in order to ensure safe and stable electricity supply for people and businesses.

The electricity sector advises people and businesses to prioritize installing rooftop solar power systems to ensure a reliable power supply and save costs in the long term.

Mr. Le Long Khanh – Head of Business Department, Ha Tinh Power Company, said: "In implementing Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated March 30, 2026 of the Prime Minister on strengthening electricity saving and developing rooftop solar power, the power sector recommends that agencies, businesses and production facilities in the area proactively invest in upgrading production technology towards energy saving; arrange reasonable production plans; and shift the load away from peak hours from 13:00-15:00 and 20:00-23:00 during the hot season."

In the long term, businesses and production facilities need to invest in rooftop solar power systems to proactively secure their electricity supply for production and save costs in the long run. Generally, using electricity efficiently and effectively not only helps reduce pressure on the national power grid but also helps customers optimize production and living costs in the context of increasing electricity demand.
