On April 18, People's Hospital 115 announced that the Emergency Department and Interventional Cardiology Department had successfully coordinated to handle a case of acute myocardial infarction complicated by ventricular fibrillation, thanks to timely intervention with electric shock and coronary stent placement.
The patient was a 50-year-old man who was admitted to the hospital with severe chest pain and difficulty breathing. At the Emergency Department, the electrocardiogram showed signs of acute myocardial infarction with large anterior ST elevation - a dangerous cardiovascular emergency. After only about 20 minutes of admission, the patient suddenly fell into a state of drowsiness, lost consciousness, and had stiff limbs. The electrocardiogram recorded ventricular fibrillation - a dangerous heart rhythm disorder that can lead to cardiac arrest and death if not treated immediately. The emergency team immediately performed defibrillation.
After 2 minutes, the patient regained consciousness and his vital signs gradually stabilized. After controlling his heart rate, the patient was consulted and urgently transferred to the cardiovascular intervention room. The coronary angiography results showed severe stenosis of the anterior interventricular artery - one of the important coronary artery branches supplying blood to the heart. The team successfully placed a coronary stent during the procedure. The patient was then closely monitored in the Interventional Cardiology Department. During the days in the hospital, the patient was alert, had stable vital signs, had no further complications and was discharged in a stable condition.
