(Dan Tri) - After more than 3 years of construction, My Thuan 2 bridge connecting Tien Giang and Vinh Long provinces was officially inaugurated with the participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
After more than 3 years of construction, the My Thuan 2 Bridge project across the Tien River connecting the two provinces of Tien Giang and Vinh Long has officially closed. My Thuan 2 Bridge started construction in February 2020, and is one of the country's key projects. According to the report of Project Management Board 7 - the investor's representative unit, the project has completed more than 94% of the volume, of which the bridge approach road has reached 100% completion. My Thuan 2 Bridge is the second cable-stayed bridge in the Mekong Delta designed and constructed by Vietnamese people. The total length of the project is 6.61km, of which the main bridge is 1.9km long and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge are 4.7km long. On the afternoon of October 14, all preparations and final items were ready to close My Thuan 2 Bridge. At exactly 4:30 p.m., Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation arrived and participated in the My Thuan 2 Bridge closing ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister praised the efforts of the ministries, branches, contractors, workers, engineers... in constructing My Thuan 2 Bridge. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and local leaders performed the closing ceremony of My Thuan 2 Bridge. "My Thuan 2 Bridge has a very important meaning. Looking at the My Thuan Bridge that was built before, we had to borrow capital, rely on foreign technology, design, construction, supervision... so the time was extended. As for My Thuan 2 Bridge, we did it ourselves at every stage, spent our own money, designed, constructed, and took responsibility... The important thing is that the bridge was built in a very difficult context in terms of capital, materials, and the Covid-19 pandemic, but was completed at least a quarter ahead of schedule, so that is its value," Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the organizations and individuals who built My Thuan 2 Bridge. Workers at the huge construction site are excited after working together for the past 40 months to close the bridge and gradually complete it. The entire project is expected to be completed in December 2023 with a total investment of more than VND 5,000 billion from the State budget. According to the design, the bridge has 128 cable bundles on the two main spans, each cable bundle is from 16 to more than 213m long. According to Trung Nam E&C Joint Stock Company (construction contractor), My Thuan 2 Bridge has two main towers (T15 and T16) with the height of the exposed part of the tower being more than 125m and the submerged part of the tower being 28m. My Thuan 2 Bridge Project is constructed by the Joint Venture of Trung Chinh Trading and Construction Company; Trung Nam Company; VNCN E&C Construction and Engineering Investment Joint Stock Company. The approach roads to My Thuan 2 Bridge at the ends of the bridge are 100% completed. My Thuan 2 Bridge plays an important role in completing the expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho, creating a complete traffic network in the Mekong Delta to reduce the load on the existing My Thuan Bridge and National Highway 1. The project has a starting point connecting the Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway project; the end point connecting the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway. My Thuan 2 Bridge is over 1.9km long, has 6 lanes, and a design speed of 80km/h. This is a large, complex cable-stayed bridge project with a main span of 650m. After the closing, some items are still being completed such as installing railings, lighting systems, median strips, polymer asphalt concrete, cable-stayed cables, traffic safety systems, riverbank reinforcement embankments...
