Tang Long Bridge with an investment of nearly 700 billion VND on La Xuan Oai Street, Thu Duc City, was re-constructed after a 4-year suspension on the morning of October 28.
The project was restarted after Thu Duc City basically completed compensation for more than 30 affected households and handed over the site to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor).
Tang Long Bridge crosses Trau Trau canal on La Xuan Oai street, 231 m long, including two branches, each 11 m wide for two lanes and sidewalks. The two ends of the bridge are approach roads with a total length of 559 m, along with lighting, trees, and drainage systems.
The project started in late 2017, but by April 2019, when about 30% of the work was completed, construction had to stop due to land issues. For more than 4 years, the completed bridge spans have been left alone, with rusting steel.

Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that after receiving the site, the unit will relocate the technical infrastructure, mobilize workers and equipment to speed up the progress. It is expected that a branch of Tang Long Bridge will open to traffic at the end of March 2024 and the entire project will be completed a year later.
When completed, Tang Long Bridge will increase traffic connectivity on La Xuan Oai Street between Tang Nhon Phu A, Long Truong, and Truong Thanh wards. At the same time, the project will also facilitate ships to cross the Trau Trau canal below, serving transportation from the High-Tech Park to the Rach Chiec River.
According to the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, the project's delay has greatly affected people's lives as well as economic and social development in the area. Therefore, the locality has focused on verifying the origin and legal status of land in each household to promptly compensate and hand over the land to the investor.
Currently, within the scope of the Tang Long bridge project, there are still some cases where compensation cannot be paid due to procedures for declaring inherited assets, disputes, lost documents... The government is guiding these households to complete procedures to receive compensation and hand over the site soon.
In addition to the above project, Thu Duc City leaders said that the locality will soon restart the Ong Nhieu and Ong Bon bridge projects and hand over the site for the key project of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3. Previously, Nam Ly bridge on Do Xuan Hop street, with an investment capital of 919 billion VND after many years of stagnation, was also re-constructed in March after the locality completed compensation and clearance.
