Vietnamese-American player Antonio Moric has been promoted to the Vietnam U23 team.

After just one training session with the Vietnam U19 team, Croatian-Vietnamese striker Antonio Moric was promoted to the Vietnam U23 team by the coaching staff.

On the afternoon of March 16th, the Vietnam U19 team held their first training session in Hanoi as part of their preparation for the 2026 Southeast Asian U19 Championship finals.

Here, coach Yutaka Ikeuchi and his staff stabilized the team, disseminated training plans, and checked the players' physical condition after their assembly. Since most of the players were only called up yesterday morning, the training mainly revolved around light ball exercises combined with movement to help the entire team get used to the intensity of exercise again, while also creating initial cohesion between positions.

After observing and evaluating his players through basic technical exercises and group coordination, Coach Ikeuchi made initial assessments of their abilities and adaptability. Croatian-Vietnamese player Antonio Moric demonstrated good basic skills and impressed the coaching staff.

Immediately after the training session, the Vietnam U19 coaching staff decided to promote Antonio Moric to the Vietnam U23 team to continue monitoring and evaluating him in an environment with higher professional demands.

The Vietnam U23 team, led by acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh, is also training at the same location as the Vietnam U19 team. The team will officially hold its first training session on the afternoon of March 17th, in preparation for the CFA Team China - Xi'an 2026 friendly tournament.

However, joining the Vietnam U23 team is just an opportunity for Antonio Moric to gain experience and learn. Because when the Vietnam U23 team departs for China on March 24th, Antonio will be returned to the Vietnam U19 team.

Antonio Moric, born in 2008, is of Vietnamese and Croatian descent and currently plays for NK Trnje. He is 1.81m tall and can play in various attacking positions, including as a winger and attacking midfielder. Antonio has made several appearances for the NK Trnje first team in the Croatian Second Division.
