At 93 years old and with 61 years of Party membership, the respected figure Truong Van Ba in Phu Minh village, Thuong Hoa commune, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province, remains sharp-minded and confident in his words. From village affairs to disputes among neighbors, whenever Mr. Ba gets involved, things always fall into place.
Minh Hoa district has 37 people recognized as influential figures among ethnic minority communities. They have truly become a "bridge" between the Party's will and the people's aspirations.
Phu Minh village is located at the foot of Da Deo pass, with 40 households, more than half of whom are Chut ethnic people.
Previously, the lives of the ethnic minority people were very difficult. Thanks to ethnic policies such as support for agricultural land, support for seedlings and livestock, etc., their lives have become increasingly prosperous. In addition, thanks to their solidarity and hard work, many families have been able to build sturdy houses.
According to Mr. Dinh Van Giao, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Hoa commune, the changes in Phu Minh village are thanks to the contributions of Mr. Truong Van Ba, a respected figure in the village. From village affairs to personal matters such as marital discord or neighbor disputes, whenever Mr. Ba steps in to mediate, everything is resolved smoothly. In particular, regarding the dissemination of guidelines and policies on ethnic minorities to the village, Mr. Truong Van Ba says that the people trust and comply very well.
Born in 1931 and raised in the legendary Da Deo Pass, Mr. Truong Van Ba quickly realized his responsibility towards the nation's war of national defense. As he grew up, he joined the ethnic minority communities in Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province, carrying ammunition and supplies... and serving as a marker at Da Deo Pass to guide our vehicles to the battlefields in the South.
In 1963, Mr. Truong Van Ba had the honor of joining the Party. Since then, Mr. Ba has strived even harder to be worthy of being a "Party member who leads the way."
After the country gained independence, he worked hard in production to improve his life. During the peak of his career, Mr. Ba's family raised many cattle and planted many forests, enabling them to provide their children with a good education. Not only did he enrich his own family, but Party member Truong Van Ba also shared his experience in forestry and cattle farming with his fellow villagers. As a result, the number of starving households in Phu Minh village decreased significantly, and the number of poor households also declined sharply. Because he was a man of his word, Party member Truong Van Ba earned the trust and affection of the villagers.
From 2011 to the present, Mr. Truong Van Ba has consistently been trusted and elected as a respected figure by the Chut people in Phu Minh village. In his role as a respected figure, Party member Truong Van Ba has fostered a spirit of unity within the village.
Besides his social work, respected figure Truong Van Ba also participates in tea cultivation to supplement his income.
Along with ethnic policies such as support for agricultural land, seedlings, and livestock, the lives of the people in Phu Minh village have been steadily improving. In particular, thanks to the strong foundation of unity built by respected village leader Truong Van Ba, the people are working together to build a stronger and more prosperous homeland. By the end of 2023, only two households in the village remained classified as poor, while the number of well-off households and those with solid houses has steadily increased.
Speaking about the respected figure Truong Van Ba, Mr. Cao Ngoc Dien - Head of the Ethnic Affairs Department of Minh Hoa district, said: "Reputable figure Truong Van Ba is truly a 'great tree' in Phu Minh village. Mr. Ba is now 93 years old and has been a Party member for 61 years. Despite his advanced age, Mr. Ba remains energetic and responsible in all activities in the village."
“Along with Mr. Bá, there are currently 37 people in Minh Hóa district recognized as influential figures among ethnic minority communities. The team of influential figures in Minh Hóa district has become an important ‘bridge’ between the Party’s will and the people’s aspirations. They have made significant contributions to the comprehensive development of ethnic minority areas in the district,” Mr. Cao Ngọc Điền stated.
