CDC Lao Cai welcomed and worked with the delegation of the Department of Health of Vientiane province (Lao PDR)

Pursuant to the Cooperation Agreement between the People's Committee of Yen Bai province (now Lao Cai province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam) and the Government of Vientiane province (Lao PDR) in 2025, Plan No. 09/KH-SYT dated September 9, 2025 of the Lao Cai Department of Health on welcoming and organizing learning, exchanging and sharing experiences on health work between the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health and the Vientiane Provincial Department of Health in Lao Cai province, Plan No. 84/KH-TTKSBT dated September 17, 2025 of the Center for Disease Control on welcoming and organizing learning, exchanging and sharing experiences on health work between the Lao Cai Provincial Center for Disease Control and the Vientiane Provincial Department of Health at the Center for Disease Control. On September 23, 2025, at the Lao Cai Provincial Center for Disease Control (Center for Disease Control), a working delegation of the Vientiane Provincial Department of Health led by MSc. Pharmacist. Van Pheng Phanthanala - Director of the Department of Health of Vientiane province as head of the delegation with comrades in the Board of Directors, leaders of hospitals and medical centers under the Department of Health of Vientiane province visited and worked at the Center for Disease Control of Lao Cai province.

Receiving and working with the delegation, on behalf of Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health, there were Dr. Luc Hau Giang - Deputy Director of the Department, comrades in the Board of Directors, leaders of departments and professional offices of the Center for Disease Control.

At the meeting, delegates listened to Associate Professor, Doctor, and Doctor Tran Minh Hieu - Director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, briefly introduce the organizational structure, functions, tasks, and outstanding results in the unit's disease prevention work; share techniques and experiences in monitoring and responding to vaccine-preventable diseases; measures to respond to medical emergencies, etc.

At the same time, the two sides exchanged and shared professional experiences in monitoring and responding to vaccine-preventable diseases. The working session took place in an open and frank atmosphere, with many practical experiences shared by both sides, especially models of case monitoring, expanded vaccination, and application of molecular biological testing. The working program ended with the agreement to maintain long-term cooperation between the health sectors of the two provinces, increase the sharing of epidemiological data, organize regular training and coordinate in cross-border epidemic prevention.

The delegation visited some departments and offices of the Center.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited a number of departments and rooms of the Center; continued to have in-depth discussions on investigation, outbreak handling, risk communication and visited the Department of Testing - Diagnostic Imaging - Functional Exploration, learned about modern testing techniques such as RT-PCR, gas chromatography mass spectrometry, atomic absorption spectroscopy... serving the work of disease prevention and control.
