"Congratulations to the Vietnam women's team. Actually, Thailand did very well. I wished the second goal would come to Thailand in the last minute. After a regrettable loss to the Australian women's team in the semi-finals, coach Mai Duc Chung's team still showed great determination when facing Thailand in the third-place match at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ).
Despite facing many difficulties against Thailand's tight defense, the Vietnamese women's team still managed to open the scoring thanks to Hai Yen's goal in the 45th minute.
The Vietnamese women's team quickly increased their advantage with a second goal in the 65th minute when striker Huynh Nhu sprinted past the defense to receive a pass from Thai Thi Thao and then finished past goalkeeper Homyamyen.
Just 3 minutes later, the score was 3-0 in favor of the Vietnamese women's team when Nguyen Thi Van made a long pass for Bich Thuy to rush into the penalty area and decisively shoot, giving goalkeeper Homyamyen no chance to block.
After conceding 3 goals, the Thai women's team finally got an honorary goal in the 87th minute and accepted the final defeat against Vietnam with a score of 1-3 and witnessed coach Mai Duc Chung's team win 3rd place in the tournament.
