Over the years, while maintaining stable production, coal industry units have always paid special attention to the lives, health, and working conditions of their workers. A series of comprehensive solutions have been implemented, such as investing in new mining technologies, improving the working environment in underground mines, strengthening ventilation systems, reducing dust and temperature, and ensuring occupational safety. Many units focus on improving the quality of meals during shifts, organizing transportation for workers, building collective housing, and cultural and sports facilities to ensure workers feel secure and committed to the profession in the long term.
In particular, healthcare for miners has always been identified as a top priority. Besides organizing regular health check-ups as required, coal industry units also conduct specialized examinations for those working in strenuous or hazardous positions; create individual health records for each worker; and organize rehabilitation and functional recovery programs for workers after working in high-pressure environments. This contributes to early detection of occupational diseases, improves physical condition, and maintains long-term working capacity.

Currently, along with many workers throughout the province, periodic health check-ups for coal miners are being implemented simultaneously at many production units. This is also a practical activity linked to the implementation of Plan No. 229/KH-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on periodic health check-ups and free screening for people in Quang Ninh province in 2026.
At Company 35, 19th Army Corps, on May 27th and 28th, more than 800 direct laborers participated in the first periodic health check-up of 2026. Mr. Nguyen Van Ha, from Construction Site 3, Company 35, 19th Army Corps, shared: “I have been with the company for over 20 years. Every year, workers receive two periodic health check-ups to promptly detect and screen for occupational disease risks. The working conditions for miners are very difficult; mining often involves exposure to coal dust, high humidity, and poor lighting. Therefore, I am very pleased to participate in the full periodic health check-up. Through the health check-up, workers can understand their health status and proactively adjust their work and lifestyle accordingly.”

In the unique working environment of the coal industry, health is paramount to maintaining productivity and ensuring production safety. Coal miners frequently face coal dust, noise, high work pressure, and harsh working conditions. Regular health checkups for coal miners not only focus on routine health indicators but also concentrate on screening for occupational diseases specific to the industry.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Hieu, Specialist I and Deputy Director of Cam Pha General Hospital, stated: "For coal industry workers, the hospital focuses on screening for occupational diseases related to the respiratory, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and hearing systems. Early detection of risks, even before symptoms appear, is crucial for timely treatment and monitoring of workers. Simultaneously, the creation of individual health records for each worker is carried out meticulously and accurately for long-term management and to ensure the health of each individual."

In addition to providing immediate healthcare, data from periodic health checkups serves as a crucial basis for businesses to assess the suitability of employees for each job position, thereby arranging and adjusting work schedules more appropriately. This helps to reduce the risk of workplace accidents and occupational diseases, and improve the quality of life for miners.
Implementing Plan No. 229/KH-UBND on the deployment of periodic health check-ups and free screening for people in Quang Ninh province in 2026 is an opportunity for workers to receive more comprehensive health care. Not only will they receive periodic check-ups tailored to their occupation, but workers will also have access to the province's widespread free screening system, contributing to continuous health management from their working years to retirement.

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Tien Tuc, Deputy Chief of the Office in charge of Military Medicine, Company 35, 19th Army Corps, said: The unit continues to coordinate and organize periodic health check-ups, specialized examinations, and comprehensive check-ups for workers, especially those directly involved in production in arduous and hazardous environments. The policy of universal health check-ups is of great significance, demonstrating the great concern of the central and local governments for the people, contributing to the early detection of diseases.
