Taking good care of the military's rear support

Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen analyzed that the policy of supporting the military is not a small matter; if the employment prospects for those returning after completing their military service are well-maintained, it will be a motivating factor for young volunteers to enlist.

On June 15th, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee held a mid-term review conference on the implementation of the Resolution of the 12th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee, term 2020-2025.

Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee, presided over the meeting. Also present was Lieutenant General Tran Hoai Trung, Political Commissar of Military Region 7.

Opening the conference, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee, Nguyen Van Nen, emphasized that the mid-term conference of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee is taking place at a time when many important events are unfolding for the general situation of the world and the country. Especially in recent days, there have been some developments related to national defense and security.

According to the comrade, since the beginning of the 2020-2025 term, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee has faced many issues that need to be resolved. In addition to the seven specific tasks set out at the 12th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee, the evolving practical situation has given rise to many new issues requiring the Ho Chi Minh City military forces to get involved, especially in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The comrade reiterated that in 2021, Ho Chi Minh City made strenuous efforts to overcome the pandemic, followed by economic recovery and post-pandemic recovery, and in 2023, the complex global situation directly impacted Ho Chi Minh City. In this context, the Party Committee and the Command of Ho Chi Minh City made strenuous efforts, adhering to assigned tasks, flexibly and creatively implementing immediate tasks as well as related issues, under the overall leadership and direction of the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 7, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

"The halfway point of the term marks an important step, allowing us to review what we have accomplished, what we haven't, our strengths, weaknesses, limitations, and shortcomings, and their causes, in order to propose solutions to fulfill the tasks and objectives set forth by the 12th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee," Comrade Nguyen Van Nen emphasized.

At the conference, the Party Secretaries of the Military Commands of the districts, counties, and Thu Duc City proposed many issues, especially policies regarding the welfare of military families. Regarding this matter, Comrade Nguyen Van Nen noted that the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command Party Committee needs to pay more attention to policies supporting military families. In addition to the city's general policies, localities should also pay specific attention to each case, especially those with difficult circumstances who are participating in military service.

The comrade analyzed that the policy of supporting the military's rear areas is no small matter; if the employment prospects for those returning after completing their military service are well-maintained, it will be a motivating factor for young volunteers to enlist. He emphasized that young people who have completed their military service are a high-quality workforce, trained in the military, and therefore policies are needed to attract this force.

Over the past half-term, the Party Committee and the Command of Ho Chi Minh City have led, directed, and implemented the Resolution of the 12th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee decisively, synchronously, and effectively.

In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee has made breakthroughs in improving the effectiveness of advisory work and the organization and implementation of local military and national defense tasks; promoting its core role in building a comprehensive national defense system and a national defense posture linked with an increasingly solid people's security posture.

In particular, they have performed well in combat readiness and participated effectively in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic, contributing to maintaining political security and social order, creating a favorable environment for the city's economic, cultural, and social development.

Specifically, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee mobilized more than 36,000 officers, soldiers, and militia members; promptly reported and proposed to the Ministry of National Defense and Military Region 7 to reinforce forces and resources to support the city in epidemic prevention and control in a rational and effective manner… The results contributed to the city controlling the epidemic, restoring and developing socio-economic activities. From this, the image and noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" shone brightly and were promoted, leaving a positive impression on the city's people.
