Allkpop reported on July 13 that Choi Sung-bong's body is still being kept in a hospital funeral home's freezer.
An official from the Gangnam-gu office in Seoul, South Korea, told News1: "We have appointed Choi Sung-bong's acquaintances as the funeral organizers and notified them on July 12. After the funeral takes place, we will receive a clearer report on the incident."
Choi Sung-bong has not been buried or laid to rest for 20 days after his death.
Star News reported that Choi Sung-bong's acquaintances will arrange the funeral and details will be announced soon. "We plan to prepare for the funeral on July 15, the location has not been decided yet," the acquaintance said, adding that the funeral will take place over two days and visitors will be welcomed as soon as everything is ready.
"He did many wrong things and created bad public opinion, but I believe that those who want to say goodbye and think of his filial piety will come to pay their respects," said an acquaintance of Choi Sung-bong.
Acquaintances will hold a funeral for Choi Sung-bong and the funeral is scheduled to take place on July 15.
Previously, the hospital could not return Choi Sung-bong's body for the funeral because he had no relatives and no one came to claim his body. Choi Sung-bong's close aide said: "Choi Sung-bong has no living family members, so receiving the body became complicated. As an acquaintance, I personally organized the funeral on behalf of his family."
This person plans to create a memorial space where Choi Sung-bong's fans can express their condolences to him.
In the 2011 show "Korea's Got Talent", Choi Sung-bong shared that he was abandoned by his biological parents when he was only 3 years old and was then sent to an orphanage.
Choi Sung-bong's body was found at his home in Seoul on June 21. He is suspected of committing suicide and the police are still actively investigating the case. Previously, on June 20, the singer posted a suicide note on YouTube, causing public confusion, some people reported it to the police.
