On the morning of December 2, Quang Nam held a ceremony to announce the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of the province for the 2023-2025 period.

Accordingly, Quang Nam will merge the entire natural area of 471.64km2 and population of 35,438 people of Nong Son district into Que Son district. After the merger, Que Son district will have a natural area of 729.10km2 and a population of 139,566 people.

In the new Que Son district, the entire Son Vien commune was merged into Que Loc commune. After the merger, this district has 18 commune-level administrative units.

At the same time, dissolve the People's Court and People's Procuracy of Nong Son district. The People's Court and People's Procuracy of Que Son district are responsible for inheriting the tasks and powers of the People's Court and People's Procuracy of Nong Son district.

In addition, in Thang Binh district, Binh Dinh Bac and Binh Dinh Nam communes were merged to form Binh Dinh commune with an area of 33.21 km2 and a population of 10,220 people. Binh Chanh commune was merged into Binh Phu commune to form a new Binh Phu commune with an area of 43.74 km2 and a population of 9,736 people.

In Hiep Duc district, Hiep Thuan commune and Hiep Hoa commune were merged to form Que Tan commune with an area of 91.28 km2 and a population of 4,420 people.

In Duy Xuyen district, Duy Thu commune is merged into Duy Tan commune to establish a new Duy Tan commune with an area of 21.56km2 and a total population of 11,658 people.

In Tien Phuoc district, Tien Cam commune is merged into Tien Son commune to establish a new Tien Son commune with an area of 40.11 km2 and a population of 7,382 people.

In Phu Ninh district, Tam Vinh commune is merged into Phu Thinh town. After the merger, Phu Thinh town is expanded to 20.32km2 and has a population of 10,928 people.

In Tam Ky city, the entire Phuoc Hoa ward is merged into An Xuan ward. The new An Xuan ward has a natural area of 1.75km2 and a population of 18,580 people.

From the effective date of the Resolution (January 1, 2025), Quang Nam has 17 district-level administrative units, including 14 districts, 1 town and 2 cities; 233 commune-level administrative units, including 190 communes, 29 wards and 14 towns.
