“Freelancer is a job that everyone thinks is easy, until they try it.” The short statement of Minh Thu (24 years old, freelance designer in Ho Chi Minh City) made many people in the freelancer community nod in sympathy. She used to think that being able to work anytime, anywhere was a privilege, but after nearly a year of pursuing a “nomad” lifestyle, Thu admitted: “Freedom does not mean easy.”
The "unintentional gym" journey
In recent years, freelancing has become a trend that many young people have pursued. Freedom to choose a workspace, freedom to arrange time, and not being closely supervised by superiors, sounds like an ideal dream. But only those who have actually experienced it can understand that behind freedom are many inconveniences, troubles, and even “half-laughing, half-crying” moments.
“Every day I have to carry my laptop with me, everywhere I go, it’s like carrying my life. The machine weighs almost 2 kg, plus the charger, mouse, and hard drive, it becomes 3-4 kg. Sometimes I just want to carry a small bag to work like other office workers,” Thu said.
Not only that, with the nature of her work requiring image processing and running multiple software programs at the same time, she cannot use a regular thin and light laptop. “There was a time when I tried buying a more compact and lightweight laptop. It looked really nice, but when running software, the machine got hot, froze, and missed deadlines continuously,” Thu said.

The hardships of freelancers do not stop at the weight of the machine. Nguyen Hoang Anh (22 years old, freelance copywriter) shared: “One day, I was having an online meeting with a big client, and I chose a very quiet coffee shop. But right when I presented my idea, the bar started grinding ice loudly. The customers could not hear anything, I was both embarrassed and worried that I would be judged as unprofessional.”
Similarly, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan (26 years old, freelance editor) had an “occupational accident” due to the battery. Thuan said: “Once, while I was urgently editing a photo to meet the posting schedule, the battery was low but the shop had no more power outlets. I went to 3 shops in a row and still couldn’t find a place to plug in the charger.”
It is obvious that the equipment for freelancers is as important as their professional skills. Choosing the wrong laptop can cause work interruptions and mental stress in the long run. They need equipment that is light enough to carry around every day, but also powerful, stable, and especially has a long battery life so they don’t have to fumble around for a power outlet when the deadline is near.

Need a true companion
From that practical experience, it is not difficult to understand why freelancers are increasingly interested in laptops optimized for flexible working, for example Asus Vivobook S14/S16 - a newly launched laptop model aimed at dynamic young people and creative people.
With a slim and light design (only from 1.4 kg, 1.59 cm thick), the device allows users to carry it all day without shoulder or neck pain. The double-sided metal shell meets military durability standards to protect the device when having to move a lot or work in public spaces.
The machine is equipped with the latest generation Intel Core Ultra H-series 2025 chip, which is a processor that usually only appears on high-performance laptops. This difference helps the new Vivobook line have outstanding processing performance, while still maintaining the characteristic thin and light design, enough to smoothly run photo editing software, video editing, content creation...
“The device is really light, looks thin but still runs Photoshop and Illustrator well. No more sacrificing performance just to be light,” Minh Thu shared after a period of experience.

In particular, Vivobook S14/S16 has a 70 Wh battery that provides a long battery life of up to 20 hours depending on the task, suitable for the flexible, non-fixed work schedule of freelancers. For people who have "broken deadlines" due to running out of battery like Thuan, this is truly an effective solution. The battery of the device is also optimized for durability, applying a new charging management standard to increase the number of charging cycles from 1,000 to 1,200 times. This helps the battery to retain about 70% of its capacity after many years of use, ensuring long-term stable performance.
Another plus point is that this device has AI Noise-Canceling technology, which helps filter out noise in online meeting environments. In addition, with a processor capable of supporting AI, users can also be more assured that the device will be ready for the latest updates on AI in software, when AI is and will be the development direction of the technology industry.
“Since using this machine, I am no longer haunted by the sound of the blender,” said Hoang Anh.
