The 'unique' Nokia, running iOS

A user has created a Nokia smartphone running iOS by replacing components from the 3rd generation iPhone SE model.

On the Reddit forum, a user shared a project to put all the iPhone SE 3 components into the Nokia Lumia 1020 case. The result is a Nokia smartphone that is "revived" with the modern iOS platform.

Member @OceanDepth95028 said that it uses all the hardware of the iPhone SE 3, including the 12 MP rear camera, Taptic Engine vibrator and Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The device is called "LumiPhone 1020 SE" by this person.

Not only the normal hardware but also the SIM tray, LED flash and 5G modem work when transferred to the new case. The device can still meet basic needs with the A15 Bionic processor chip, 128 GB of internal memory.

The glass of the iPhone SE 3 is separated and pressed onto the new case. Due to the larger screen size than the Lumia 1020 (4.7 inches compared to 4.5 inches), this person had to remove 3 touch control buttons. In return, the iPhone's front camera is placed in the correct position when installed on the Nokia case (upper right corner).

The camera cluster is the big highlight of the Lumia 1020. However, @OceanDepth95028 had to replace the 41 MP lens with a 12 MP sensor on the iPhone SE 3. Below the camera is the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, similar to some old Android smartphones.

The Xenon flash on the left is still there but no longer usable. Meanwhile, the iPhone's actual LED flash is below.

The SIM tray of the device is still on the top edge. The 3.5mm headphone jack is covered because it is no longer used on the new iPhones. The Lightning port on the bottom edge is still intact, but it still has the microUSB port shape from the Nokia case.

Another standout feature of the Nokia Lumia 1020 is the camera shutter button. To make the device work, @OceanDepth95028 connected the volume down button. This means the user has 2 volume down buttons that also act as the camera shutter button in the camera app.

The software inside the device is nothing new as it is still the original iOS, which can be updated to a new version in the future.

Some features that don’t work include wireless charging and Apple Pay, but it’s still an interesting project for those who like iPhones in the body of old Nokia smartphones.
