Construction began in January 2021 and was completed in late September 2024. To date, the Red River Bridge has been inaugurated and put into use. This is a project in the coastal road project of Hung Yen province, which is part of the North-South coastal road planning and is considered the most important project on the entire route.
The Red River Bridge has a total length of 1.4 km with 27 spans, including 5 main spans and the main span in the middle of the river with a span of 120 m.
The total investment of the project is nearly 1,000 billion VND. This is a bridge across the Red River connecting Hung Phu commune, Hung Yen province (Tien Hai district, former Thai Binh province) and Giao Minh commune, Ninh Binh province (Giao Thuy district, former Nam Dinh province).
The bridge is designed with 4 lanes, including 2 lanes for cars and 2 lanes for motorbikes and non-motorized vehicles... The bridge surface is paved with flat asphalt and has clear lane markings.
This is a grade I road traffic project, permanently designed with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete.
The Red River overpass is designed with a modern, durable structure with a railing and lighting system that meets standards, ensuring safety.
The solid steel railing system and yellow-black painted median strip increase vehicle visibility.
The lighting system along the bridge meets technical standards, serving convenient traffic day and night.
The approach roads at both ends of the bridge are equipped with a solid guardrail system and clear traffic signs to ensure safety...
The bridge is designed with prestressed reinforced concrete pillars. The structure of the two-sided approach spans, on the Hung Yen side, includes 18 SuperT girder spans and 1 slab girder span; on the Ninh Binh side, includes 5 SuperT girder spans.
The BOT toll station system was built right under the bridge on the Hung Yen side and is now almost complete.
BOT toll booths include multiple lanes, equipped with surveillance cameras, electronic signs and automatic toll collection systems.
The bridge and approach roads are designed for a maximum speed of 80km/h. The road surface is paved with clear lane markings.
The road leading to Giao Minh commune, Ninh Binh province is under construction and expansion.
The Red River Bridge on the coastal road has a great significance and role in promoting the socio-economic development, national defense and security of the two localities, especially having a decisive significance for the development of the Hung Yen Economic Zone. After completion and operation, the Red River Bridge together with the coastal road will significantly shorten the travel time: from Thai Binh Economic Zone to Hai Phong in just 40 minutes, to Cat Bi airport in 55 minutes, to Lach Huyen international port in 60 minutes. The distance to Ha Long is reduced to 90 minutes; to Van Don airport in just 150 minutes and to Mong Cai border gate in 180 minutes.
