On February 16, the People's Committee of Bai Chay Ward (Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province) issued a report verifying the content of the reflection of a group of tourists accusing a seafood restaurant of "ripping off" them.
According to the bill provided by diner PHT, a group of 16 people dined at the restaurant on the evening of the 6th day of Tet, with a total cost of more than 11.7 million VND.
The Ward People's Committee sent a working group to inspect the restaurant in question. Mr. Vu Tri Cuong, representative of the owner, said that at 9:00 p.m. on February 15, a group of 16 people came to order food at the restaurant.
According to Mr. Cuong, during the purchase and sale process, the restaurant provided a price list. The two parties agreed on the prices for the items requested by the group of customers.
"At the same time, during the process of using the service at the restaurant, customers did not have any feedback," according to the report.

After checking and having a record, Bai Chay Ward People's Committee sent a report to Ha Long City People's Committee about the incident.

Previously, at the restaurant, the group of diners ordered 7 different types of seafood including: long-legged shrimp for 850,000 VND/kg, raw oysters and oysters with scallion oil for 15,000 VND/each, tiger grouper for 750,000 VND/kg, large snails for 750,000 VND/kg, large salt-roasted mantis shrimp for 850,000 VND/kg, and flower clams for 450,000 VND/kg.
The restaurant owner said that the restaurant publicly listed seafood prices. Before the group of guests ordered, they discussed and agreed on the price of each type of seafood.
"We talked to customers before the meal so they knew the price of each type. The restaurant's seafood prices change every day and are not fixed because they depend on the fishermen's catch.
Each season, seafood prices have certain changes. During holidays and Tet, prices at the restaurant increase from 8% to 10% because the cost of service staff is also increased," the restaurant owner explained.
