On August 7-8, Mr. Le Hong Ha, head of the Gia Lai Provincial Market Management Department, said that they had coordinated with relevant agencies to detect and handle a truck carrying 220 pigs infected with African swine fever en route to be sold.
Specifically, based on intelligence gathered, on August 7-8, Team 4 of the Market Management Department of Gia Lai province, in coordination with the An Nhon Ward Police, the Livestock and Veterinary Station of Region III of Gia Lai province, and other relevant units, inspected a truck in Thuan Duc residential area, An Nhon ward.
Upon inspection, authorities discovered that the vehicle was carrying 220 pigs. Some of the pigs showed signs of infectious disease, such as skin hemorrhages on the abdomen and ears, and high fevers exceeding 41 ° C. Rapid blood tests of the pigs yielded positive results for African swine fever.
The driver and the owner of the pigs could not produce documents proving their origin. Market Management Team No. 4 temporarily seized all the pigs and proceeded with their destruction according to regulations.
Upon verification, the owner of the pigs, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, does not possess a business registration certificate.
