The Da Nang team (Vietnam) and the Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Display team (China) are expected to deliver a spectacular, colorful, and dazzling display at the opening night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026.

Representatives from both teams revealed their preparations and performance techniques ahead of DIFF 2026 to reporters from Da Nang Newspaper and Radio & Television .

Touching the viewers' emotions.

* Sir, the Da Nang team (Vietnam) is the first representative from Vietnam to participate in this year's international fireworks competition. With the advantage of being the host team, what are the advantages and pressures facing the Da Nang team?

- Mr. Nguyen Nhat Vu, Captain of the Da Nang team: Competing on home ground, we feel confident and proud. The encouragement and support of the audience and the people are the motivation for us to strive to excellently complete our task and deliver an emotional performance in this year's fireworks season.

Having participated in annual events like DIFF since 2008, we are familiar with the pace of competition. The current pressure on each team depends on the weather conditions on the night of the fireworks display.

In addition, the participating teams all have long-standing traditions, extensive experience, and mastery of fireworks technology and production. This poses a challenge for us and a significant advantage for the other teams.

* What story will the Da Nang team tell in the city's sky with fireworks this year? Can you reveal some information?

- Mr. Nguyen Nhat Vu: We will be performing with the theme "Nature," combining melodious music with many dazzling light effects.

For us, a beautiful fireworks display is not just about technique, but also about touching the viewers' emotions through a harmonious combination of visuals, music, and the story it conveys. Through the art of light, we send a message about environmental protection, preserving cultural identity, and working together to protect our common home.

This year's performance also featured many innovations, from technical aspects to the selection of diverse and colorful fireworks, harmoniously combined with the music, fitting the theme of the show and touching the emotions of the audience.

This year, about half of our team members have changed. The new members have quickly adapted and absorbed the experience from previous generations. The combination of generations brings innovation and creativity in technique as well as effects in the performance. Our strengths are the high level of unity and cohesion within the team, discipline, experience gained from many years of competition, and a sense of responsibility. This is something the Da Nang team has always demonstrated very well, and that spirit continues to spread in this year's fireworks season.

* What makes you and your teammates most proud of the fact that DIFF receives attention from many international friends every year?

- Mr. Nguyen Nhat Vu: To date, DIFF has become a brand of Da Nang and has reached international recognition. We have been selected by world magazines as one of the top festivals worth visiting on the planet. This is something we are very proud of for the team as well as the entire city of Da Nang.

Bringing amazing things

* Sir, as the reigning champion of DIFF 2025, the audience will undoubtedly have high expectations for this year's performance from Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Display Co., Ltd. Does this create pressure for the team?

- Mr. Liang Weiming, Captain of the Chinese team: As the reigning champions of DIFF 2025, we are bringing to this year's DIFF equipment that the festival has never seen before, along with many new ideas and techniques. These special features will be most clearly showcased on the opening night for the audience to witness firsthand.

* What message will the team bring to the DIFF 2026 festival this year?

- Mr. Liang Weiming: The theme, “Flower of the Orient,” is a performance inspired by the Chinese folk song “Jasmine Flower,” combining high-quality smokeless fireworks with melodies rich in East Asian character. Leveraging our strengths in soft, delicate lighting effects and the ability to “draw” movement in the sky, we will recreate the beauty of Eastern nature in a poetic way; thereby helping the audience better understand Eastern culture as well as Chinese culture.

* How would you assess your opponents and your team's strengths this season?

- Mr. Liang Weiming: We have studied the participating teams this year and believe that each team has its own strengths.

Regarding our team's strengths, we'd prefer not to reveal too much at this time. However, on opening night, the audience will witness something amazing and a very special appeal from this year's performance.

How are the team's preparations for the upcoming competition going?

- Mr. Liang Weiming: Our preparations are almost complete. The high-altitude artillery pieces have been basically installed, and everything is going very well.

* In your opinion, what makes DIFF attractive to international fireworks teams?

- Mr. Liang Weiming: The companionship and support from the organizing committee, the Da Nang city government, and the fairness from the judging panel have helped DIFF become a major event attracting a large number of international teams.

Da Nang city showcases its unique cultural elements through its festivals. Here, the enthusiasm and affection of the audience for the competing teams and for the festival itself is a huge plus.

We believe that DIFF will become one of the most prestigious and outstanding fireworks festivals in the world. Through this fireworks festival, international friends will learn more about Da Nang and draw attention to this city.
