Waiting with so much love.

Unlike inside the exam room, where the focus isn't on essays and numbers, outside the exam hall, parents are also going through their own kind of exam. It's a mix of anxieties, nervousness, and also hopes and expectations for their young children.

In front of the exam venues, rain or shine, there are always large crowds of parents waiting.

On the morning of June 27th, in Lao Cai city, it rained heavily, accompanied by thunder and lightning. With only an hour left before the third session of the high school graduation exam began, a large crowd of students and their families had already gathered in front of the gate of Lao Cai City High School No. 1 – the city's first exam center. Rushing through the heavy rain and preparing for the exam, the students hurried into the school. Behind them, their parents watched anxiously. Despite the heavy rain, they didn't leave immediately, choosing a small corner by the roadside to stand, their faces filled with worry. Many brought water bottles, handheld fans, or even small folding chairs to prepare for the hours of waiting.

As candidates entered the examination hall, their parents stood outside, watching anxiously.

Ms. Vu Lan Huong was always worried outside the exam room.

Ms. Vu Lan Huong, mother of Vuong Ngoc Khanh, a student in class 12A4 at Lao Cai City High School No. 1, shared: "When my child takes exams, I lose sleep and appetite. For my child's exams, I take her there early. Not only do I drop her off and pick her up, but I also stay at the school gate throughout the exam, hoping she stays calm and confident to do well on her test."

Many parents stood outside the examination area, watching in as a form of emotional therapy.

Sharing the same feelings as Ms. Lan Huong, thousands of parents at the 27 examination centers across the province were also anxious and worried. Whether it was sunny or rainy, their footsteps never left the examination gates, their eyes always fixed on the examination halls. They worried that their children might have an urgent matter, such as forgetting their exam admission card, their citizen identification card, or other necessary exam supplies… Many parents shared: “Once my child enters the examination room, I can’t go home or do anything else because my heart feels like it’s on fire. Sitting here (in front of the examination hall gates) makes me feel more at ease.”

Amidst the crowded throngs outside the examination center at Sa Pa Town High School No. 1, Mr. Nguyen Long Hai, residing in Cau May Street, Sa Pa Town, couldn't hide his anxiety. Mr. Hai shared: “In 12 years of accompanying my child through school and exams, I've never felt as worried as I do about this exam. To ensure my child has the best conditions for the exam, I've taken care of everything from meals to sleep. For every exam, I stayed and waited for my child outside the school gate. Only when my child came out of the school gate and I saw their smile did I feel somewhat relieved.”

These "waiting hearts" are filled with boundless love.

For Mr. Hai, as with many other parents, the moment their child walks out of the school gate is the most meaningful. They long to see their child's smile as they leave the school. That smile is not only an expression of completing an exam, but also a release of pressure and worry. It's a smile of confidence, of hope for a good result after years of hard work studying. For parents, that smile is the greatest gift, dispelling all fatigue and anxiety.

For many parents, this is not just their child's exam, but also a crucial moment when they accompany their child on the threshold of the future. The image of parents waiting in the sun and rain will forever be a beautiful memory, a great motivation for their children to continue opening the door to knowledge on their path to conquering their dreams.
