Thai Festival Hanoi 2025 with the theme "Thai Creativity: The Pulse of Tradition" officially opened at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hanoi on the evening of March 28.

Thai festival held for the first time on a large scale in Hanoi

Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya - Thai Ambassador to Vietnam - said in her opening speech that this is the first time the Thai Festival has been held on a large scale in Hanoi.

This year, Hanoi was chosen as one of six major cities in the world to host the Thailand Festival.

Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Le Hai Binh said that Hanoi being chosen as one of several capitals in the world to host the Thai Festival this year shows the Royal Thai Government's respect for Vietnam in general and the capital Hanoi in particular.

He said Vietnam and Thailand are like close brothers, sharing many similar cultural values.

Thai Water Festival, Food, Music and Film

Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya said that during the 3-day festival from March 28 to 30, Hanoians as well as visitors from all over will be immersed in a space imbued with Thai culture, from rich cuisine and specialties to modern and traditional art performances and films.

Especially the opportunity to explore the traditional Thai New Year festival - Songkran Festival, water festival, intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO in 2023.

People can also explore the Loy Krathong Festival through digital platforms.

Music featuring traditional dances from various regions of Thailand, and music by SISMA - a girl group representing the modern T-pop wave - will fill the three-day festival.

Actor Ter Chantavit Dhanasevi will interact with the audience at Thang Long Imperial Citadel

An outdoor cinema will bring two famous Thai movies. They are the romantic movie Love destiny the movie at 6pm on March 29 and the comedy thriller 404 run run at 6pm on March 30.

In particular, the main actor Ter Chantavit Dhanasevi of the movie 404 Run Run will be present at the festival to interact and answer interviews from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on March 30.

Ter Chantavit Dhanasevi is considered a “box office star” in Thailand. He is known for the films Hello stranger (2010), ATM Love Error (2012), 24h love (2016), and the TV series Love Too Much (2019).
