• The Vietnam Coast Guard will conduct a field survey of the southwestern sea and islands.
  • Conduct a survey and assess the situation in the sea and islands within the Tho Chau Special Economic Zone.
  • Tightening control measures against smuggling in the Ca Mau sea area.

Ca Mau is the only province bordered by the sea on three sides, with over 310 km of coastline and many large estuaries such as Song Doc, Rach Goc, Ganh Hao, and Khanh Hoi. Hundreds of fishing boats enter and leave the area daily, creating favorable conditions for the development of the marine economy but also posing a potential risk for various types of crime , especially drug trafficking, to exploit the situation.

Criminals often take advantage of the vast area, numerous seaports, bad weather, or darkness to transport, buy, and illegally use narcotics at sea.

The Ca Mau Border Guard Force regularly patrols and monitors the area to ensure security and order along the maritime border.

In light of this situation, the Ca Mau Border Guard Command has identified drug prevention and control as a key and ongoing task; focusing on strengthening patrols, controls, and closely managing the area and the targets.

Colonel Nguyen Van Ngoc, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Border Guard's Operations Department, shared: "To enhance the effectiveness of crime prevention and control, the Provincial Border Guard has strengthened intelligence gathering, closely managed the area and targets; and strictly maintained patrol and control regimes at sea and at key seaports. Border guard posts and stations regularly coordinate with the police, coast guard, customs, and local authorities to exchange information, organize joint patrols, and promptly detect and handle violations of the law."
