Looking closely at the "strange object" his pet dog brought home, the man was startled to discover it was extremely dangerous.
The rare incident happened in Non Sung, Udon Thani province, Thailand. Mr. Jittakorn Talangjit (34 years old) was at home when his 4-year-old son named Krit ran up with a strange object in his hand and asked his father what it was.
Looking closely, Mr. Jittakorn was startled to discover that it was a homemade explosive device. It was tightly wrapped in black tape and was about the size of a tennis ball.
When asked about the source of the dangerous object, the boy said that the family dog, Latte, had picked it up somewhere and brought it to the yard. Latte, a Labrador and Golden Retriever mix, likes to play with balls and may have thought the dangerous device was a toy.
"Luckily the device did not explode while the dog was holding it in its mouth or when my son was playing with it," said Mr Jittakorn.

Jittakorn carefully placed the device in a cardboard box lined with hay. He then carried the box to a sandy area near his home, placing a rubber tire around it for extra safety. Finally, he called the police and the bomb disposal squad for assistance.
Police said the device was a homemade bomb, suspected to have been made by a group of teenagers in the area. These teenagers often carry such bombs for use in clashes with other gangs. In this case, it is suspected that a gang may have dumped the bomb on the side of the road when it was searched by police.
When the bomb disposal team arrived at the scene, they took the homemade bomb to an area away from residential areas and defused it.
