For artist Do Thu Thuy, "Dreamland" is a peaceful world where grass, trees, clouds, water and light blend together, becoming a quiet yet moving symphony of nature.

The artist was born in Hai Duong (now Hai Phong), graduated with a Master's degree from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts in 2017. She is both a creator and an art critic. Before that, the artist participated in compiling the Fine Arts textbooks in the Canh Dieu series according to the new general education program. This path shows that the artist has a theoretical foundation, is committed to art practice, and is interested in bringing fine arts closer to the younger generation.

The exhibition attracted many artists and art lovers.

With the exhibition "Dream Grassland", viewers are led into a world where each brush stroke, each color block is like a breath, an emotional state. "Mien" evokes a memory, a space not limited by geographical borders, but belongs to the depth of the soul. "Thao" evokes the rustic, wild and familiar appearance of grass and trees. "Mong" is a dream, a delicate, fragile part, full of hidden meanings.

In his autobiography about the exhibition, the artist shared: "Painting for me is not only about creation but also about healing. I paint from memory, from my silent love for nature, people and the deceased. There are things that cannot be expressed in words, I put them into colors, into lines, into silence."

Sharing about the paintings of artist Do Thu Thuy, artist Le Huy Tiep expressed: "The entire exhibition has a brilliant and pure color harmony that creates a unique feature. The works remind me of life in many rural areas but it is not completely clear. However, that is also the interesting thing because when we perceive beauty, we may have received it through the work or encountered it somewhere. In art, having a unique style is very difficult, so each artist always tries to find their own path, that is very valuable."

The public arrived early to enjoy the works.

According to artist Le Huy Tiep, the artist’s paintings have many color tones, from cool blue to bright red. Perhaps, Do Thu Thuy is still searching and conquering art through different stages and each work brings viewers a feeling of gentleness, softness, and clarity with many levels of light.

Indeed, entering the exhibition space, viewers have the feeling that the spiritual world and nature have spoken for themselves. The artist does not paint people, nor does she describe specific activities, she lets nature speak softly, suggestively, sometimes like a whisper, sometimes like a song humming in a dream.

All the works at the exhibition revolve around the theme of landscape. These are mountains, hills, rivers, lawns, and cloudy skies. But the special thing is that the color scheme that the female artist chooses is not fixed in hot or cold, but blends, creating sophistication. A painting can take cool blue as the main color but not forget to add a few purple, yellow, orange, and pink dots, making the work both gentle and brilliant, both quiet and lively. It is this color combination that creates visual depth and evokes a multi-layered feeling of nature.

Painter Do Thu Thuy pays special attention to light and the sky. In many paintings, clouds occupy the main position, constantly changing like giant silk ribbons. The light both shines and seems to resonate, making the painting space open and airy, giving viewers a sense of security and peace.

Small details from flower clusters and grass bushes, though only evoked by a few dotted, blurred strokes, are rich in poetry, creating a dreamy, magical atmosphere, bringing the feeling that nature is vibrating to the music of light.

There is a question often asked: why is it more difficult to draw still, peaceful pictures than moving pictures? Because in moving pictures, the artist can use the rhythm and drama of movement to create an impression. In still pictures, everything seems to stand still, silent, not easy to convey emotions.

The artist has used subtlety and restraint to make the stillness not boring, the silence not meaningless. Therefore, to paint a peaceful "shape", the artist must truly have a soul and deep inner strength. That is the challenge but also the creative point that creates the unique identity of "Dream Grassland".

The peaceful beauty in Do Thu Thuy's paintings becomes a spiritual support, bringing a balancing effect to the opposing psychology: the more chaotic, the more we crave tranquility.

From a certain perspective, each work is like a shelter for people to stop, breathe slowly, and listen to themselves. And more importantly, peaceful paintings have lasting value, that is, the quiet beauty will exist, transcend time, and settle the philosophy: happiness sometimes does not lie in going faster, but in stopping at the right time.

The exhibition took place during the week of the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025), making the event even more meaningful. Hanoi in the autumn days is already full of vitality with many cultural and artistic activities, now "Dream Grassland" brings a slow rhythm and gentle silence.

The event also shows gratitude to history, and affirms the new vitality of art in the heart of the city of a thousand years of culture. Another exhibition, another personal effort, but in essence, it contributes to enriching the spiritual life of the people, bringing art closer to the public.

When leaving the exhibition space, many people still carry with them a cool feeling as if they had just walked through a dreamy garden. And perhaps, as artist Do Thu Thuy confided: "The exhibition may end one day, but the dream still remains. If by chance, at some point, you find your heart fluttering amidst the colors of nature - remember, the dream has never left..."

Art, after all, is not measured by the number of days the exhibition lasts, but by the vitality in the hearts of the people who enjoy it. "The Dream Grassland" has brought such meaningful and profound values. Art here, besides bringing visual beauty, also reminds people to listen, stop and appreciate the simple things more.
