Proactive plans to prevent and combat natural disasters

Faced with complex weather developments, Muong La commune has strengthened the Civil Defense Command, proactively implemented the "4 on-site" motto, responded to emergency situations, and minimized damage caused by natural disasters.

Muong La Commune participated in an online meeting on solutions to respond to storm No. 3.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Vice Chairman of Muong La Commune People's Committee, said: The commune has approved the 2025 natural disaster response plan, clearly assigning responsibilities to each unit; mobilizing core forces including police, militia, village officials and organizations, ready to coordinate in handling natural disasters. The Commune Civil Defense Command strengthens weather monitoring, promptly informs the authorities and people about heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides to proactively respond and minimize damage. Strengthen communication and instruct on natural disaster prevention skills through the loudspeaker system of the commune, village, and sub-region.

Along with that, the commune focused on checking residential areas and areas at risk of flash floods, landslides and flooding to proactively evacuate people to safe places; raise awareness of natural disaster prevention; inspect and reinforce infrastructure before the rainy season and complete projects on residential arrangement and natural disaster prevention works.

In Na Tra village, in 2024, due to the impact of storm No. 3, prolonged heavy rain caused many households, cultural houses and classrooms to have cracked foundations, with a high risk of landslides, and had to be relocated. The commune is coordinating with construction units to speed up the progress of the project to relocate residents in urgent disaster areas. Mr. Song A Ly, Head of Na Tra village, said: People hope the project will be completed soon, helping 48 households, 240 people of the village move to a new safe place, feel secure to stabilize their lives and develop the economy .

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 3 - Wipha, the Civil Defense Command of Muong La commune has proactively and flexibly responded, strictly implemented 24/7 duty, sent working groups to Pa Kim and Hua Dan villages to review and plan to evacuate people from dangerous landslide areas; put up warning signs at vulnerable points, propagated and instructed people to reinforce their houses, and stock up on necessities. The shock force is always ready to mobilize to respond, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.

Ms. Vang Thi Pa, Na Tra village, said: After being informed about storm No. 3, my family proactively reinforced the house, tied up the roof, and put livestock and poultry in barns to limit damage.

With a positive, proactive and flexible spirit in developing plans and carefully preparing means, equipment and forces, Muong La commune is ready to effectively respond to natural disasters, minimize damage caused by storms and rains, and contribute to social stability and socio-economic development.
