- Since the end of April 2025, the Provincial People's Committee has issued documents directing units to implement measures to strengthen management to ensure labor safety in construction, and prevent landslides during the rainy and flood season for projects in the province. On that basis, many project construction enterprises have strengthened the implementation of solutions.
According to the Department of Construction, many projects are currently in the final stages and need to be accelerated. Meanwhile, the rainy season has begun, and the risk of work accidents at construction sites is always present. Therefore, the unit has increased inspection and supervision at projects and directed contractors to strictly comply with regulations on ensuring safety during construction.
According to Mr. Ha Vu Khoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, since the end of April, the Department of Construction has issued two official dispatches requesting businesses and contractors to strengthen solutions to ensure construction safety. At the same time, coordinate with the People's Committees of districts and specialized units to inspect the organization of safety activities in construction works at ongoing projects. In particular, focus on inspecting the implementation of legal regulations on ensuring safety and occupational hygiene during construction such as: labor management of construction contractors; measures to ensure safety for people, machines, equipment and works; machinery, equipment, materials for construction;... At the same time, during the inspection process, the unit requested investors to strictly implement legal regulations on occupational safety in construction works, especially during the current rainy and stormy season.
Strictly implementing the direction of all levels and sectors, the project construction enterprises in the area have proactively reviewed and handled safety risks within the construction site. Mr. Nguyen Trong Chung, Deputy Director of BT Loc Binh Company Limited, Loc Binh Bridge No. 1 project, traffic roads and resettlement areas, residents of Luc Thon commune said: Currently, the unit is urgently completing the infrastructure of the project resettlement area and the volume has reached over 70% (expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025). Since the beginning of May, there have been a number of heavy rains, affecting the construction and causing safety risks. Therefore, the unit has carried out dredging and filling to ensure the foundation structure. At the same time, signs and barriers have been installed in areas with pits and geological foundations affected by rain. At the same time, organize a meeting once a day to thoroughly understand the entire construction team to strictly implement safety regulations such as 100% of workers are fully equipped with protective equipment before construction.
Similarly, at the construction sites on the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway, contractors are also urgently implementing safety measures. Mr. Vu Xuan Huy, Director of the EC03 Package Management Board of the above project, said: The unit is mobilizing over 500 workers and over 200 pieces of equipment to synchronously implement the construction of items. Among them, there are many construction sites at a height of 70 - 80m above the ground level and there are 3 elevated bridge locations. Therefore, the unit has thoroughly instructed all workers to strictly follow the construction process and principles. At the same time, safety supervisors are arranged at all 3/3 construction sites on the route. In the current stormy weather conditions, the unit is implementing measures to reinforce the slope and steel at deep construction sites to ensure geology. Before construction, the unit always studies the slope, inclination and safety coefficient of the road surface. With frequent storms since the beginning of May, we have directed the work teams to gather equipment in a safe location as soon as the shift ends.
It is known that the whole province has over 200 construction investment projects under implementation. Among them, there are many projects with urgent progress requirements. According to the assessment of the Department of Construction, from April 2025 to present, the Department has coordinated with inter-sectoral units to organize inspections at 4 key projects in the province. Through inspections, the units have basically implemented relatively seriously the regulations on ensuring labor safety during construction. Accordingly, enterprises have been actively implementing solutions such as: inspecting areas with weak ground to ensure safety; arranging means and equipment to handle flooding to avoid affecting the structure of the construction; reviewing and installing warning signs and barriers at points at risk of landslides; adjusting the slope of the road surface and creating drainage ditches at key locations to improve the efficiency of surface drainage...
According to forecasts, there will continue to be heavy rains in the coming time. This is a factor that greatly affects the construction process and has the risk of causing landslides, flooding, and unsafety. Therefore, the Department of Construction continues to coordinate with relevant units to strengthen inspection and closely monitor the construction of projects. However, to minimize unsafety incidents, along with strictly complying with regulations, businesses need to continue to closely monitor the weather situation to have appropriate construction plans.
