Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee: Must work in the spirit of "6 clear"

Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung directed that the working spirit must be implemented in the spirit of "6 clear" according to the direction of the Prime Minister. On the morning of July 9, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung and Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee chaired an online conference with communes, wards, and special zones on implementing the growth plan, socio -economic indicators; disbursement of public investment capital in the last 6 months of 2025 and evaluating the performance of the two-level government model.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung emphasized that a very encouraging sign for An Giang province is that its economic growth rate is over 8%, making it one of 17 provinces and cities nationwide with a growth rate of over 8%. Many socio-economic indicators over the same period have been achieved and exceeded the plan, the government apparatus is operating smoothly, serving the people fully and better.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that this result was achieved thanks to the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the efforts of all levels, sectors, localities and especially the consensus and support of the people and the business community. He praised the results achieved, especially in the first week of operating the two-level local government model, all levels and sectors have shown a spirit of effort and high responsibility.

In the coming time, comrade Ho Van Mung requested departments, branches and local authorities to continue to promote the sense of responsibility and be more proactive in completing the large volume of tasks from now until the end of the year. In particular, for recommendations under the authority of departments and branches, it is necessary to proactively support and guide localities, without waiting for the direction of the Provincial People's Committee. For contents under the authority of the Provincial People's Committee, units must submit reports this week for synthesis, timely direction and resolution.

ECONOMIC GROWTH 8.12%

Reporting at the conference, Provincial Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Finance of An Giang province Pham Minh Tam said that the province's socio-economic development in the first 6 months of the year had positive developments, with many sectors and fields having high growth compared to the same period.

According to the announcement of the General Statistics Office, An Giang province increased by 8.12%, of which the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 3.42%; the industry and construction sector increased by 11.33%; the service sector increased by 10.80%; product tax minus product subsidy increased by 7.97%.

The Provincial People's Committee has directed sectors and localities to focus on building and developing safe agricultural, forestry and fishery supply chain models. Total rice output in the first 6 months is estimated at nearly 5 million tons. Total output of exploitation and aquaculture reached 784,804 tons.

Many safe food supply chains according to VietGAP standards have been established and expanded, contributing to improving product quality and value and ensuring food safety and hygiene. Forming large-scale specialized and concentrated production areas for key products such as rice, sticky rice, fruits, vegetables and aquatic products, linked to production and consumption according to the agricultural value chain, meeting the requirements of domestic and foreign markets.

Industrial production and business activities in the area continued to maintain positive growth momentum. Some key industrial products such as frozen seafood, milled rice, ready-made garments, leather footwear, canned fish, stone mining and commercial electricity expanded production scale, contributing to stabilizing growth of the entire industry. The growth rate of industrial production value increased by 15.66%.

In particular, enterprises in the garment and footwear industry have signed more export orders, regularly recruited more workers, applied policies to increase wages, income and expand benefits, contributing to improving the lives and encouraging the spirit of workers.

The service sector continued to recover strongly, achieving a higher growth rate than the same period last year. Some large service sectors such as trade, transportation, accommodation and tourism contributed positively to the increase in total added value.

The commodity market is stable, businesses proactively prepare abundant sources of goods, diverse types, guaranteed quality, well meeting the consumption and shopping needs of the people. Import and export activities in the area are basically stable.

Total state budget revenue in the area reached 13,111 billion VND. Total social investment capital reached 21,500 billion VND. Export turnover reached more than 1.1 billion VND. In the first 6 months of the year, the tourism industry welcomed over 14 million visitors.

National and provincial key projects and works are directed and managed to accelerate their implementation. Attention is paid to ensuring social security, healthcare, and health care for the people; the province focuses on effectively implementing programs to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, contributing to improving the quality of people's lives. Many cultural, artistic, physical education, and sports activities are organized thoughtfully, safely, and practically, creating an exciting atmosphere throughout the province...

“In the last 6 months of 2025, the province will strive to exploit the potential for low-emission rice production, freshwater fish farming (tra fish, tilapia for export, etc.), bird nests, poultry farming, vegetable production, development and recognition of OCOP products, etc. to achieve and exceed the proposed growth scenario,” said Le Huu Toan, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province.

According to the Department of Finance of An Giang province, by the end of June 30, the total disbursement value of the province was 5,533,480 million VND, reaching 25.97% of the capital plan assigned by the Prime Minister and 21.19% of the capital plan assigned by the Provincial People's Council.

Regarding the results of one week of operating the two-level local government model, up to now, communes, wards, and special zones have completed the arrangement of the organizational apparatus to operate stably, with a total of 6,784 people.
