On the afternoon of May 4, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Khanh Hoa Province said that he had directed the People's Committee of Nha Trang City to inspect and handle the case of tourists reporting that a floating raft on Tri Nguyen Island (Vinh Nguyen Ward, Nha Trang) charged 1.75 million VND for half a kilo of boxfish. After verification, this seafood raft did not have a license to operate food services. The province requested this facility to stop operating, contact tourists to refund and apologize, and at the same time requested the locality to rectify the illegal transportation of tourists to floating rafts in Nha Trang Bay.
A customer's post accused a seafood raft of selling boxfish for 3.5 million VND/kg. |
Previously, on the evening of May 2, a Facebook post with the title: " If you haven't been there, you don't know Nha Trang, when you come back you will understand... " was circulated. In the post, a tourist posted a picture of a bill for food and drinks totaling VND2.78 million; in which the boxfish cost VND3.5 million/kg, and customers who ate 0.5kg had to pay VND1.75 million. After the post was posted, many people expressed their anger, saying that the restaurant's prices were too high, causing displeasure among tourists and affecting the image of local tourism .
After receiving the information, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan requested the Nha Trang City People's Committee to urgently check whether the above floating raft is allowed to do food business or not. If this is just a raft for farming, the illegal food business must be handled and the continued food business must be strictly prohibited. At the same time, Nha Trang City must request the raft owner to contact the tourist to refund the wrongly calculated amount and apologize for the incident. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan also requested the Nha Trang City People's Committee to rectify the situation of canoes taking tourists to illegal floating rafts on Nha Trang Bay; request state management agencies to strengthen inspection of means of transport such as: Taxis, canoes, tourist boats as well as check service prices to avoid "overcharging", inappropriate behavior, affecting the image of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism.
Regarding the incident, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Vice Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee said that after receiving the information, the City People's Committee directed Vinh Nguyen Ward People's Committee to inspect and clarify. The inspection team of the Ward People's Committee worked with Mr. PV L - owner of the seafood raft on Tri Nguyen Island. Initially, it was determined that this was a seafood raft, not a licensed food service establishment. The inspection team requested Mr. L. to stop receiving guests on the raft to serve food when it did not meet the prescribed conditions.
Reporting to the authorities of Nha Trang City, Mr. L. and his wife said: at around 2:00 p.m. on May 2, the HH canoe took 2 tourists from Hanoi to his seafood farm for lunch. The guests chose boxfish, squid, fried rice... for their meal. Mr. L. clearly quoted the price: Boxfish 3.5 million VND/kg, squid 950 thousand VND/kg... The guests agreed to this price, so Mr. L. prepared the dish. After finishing the meal, the guests paid and left the raft. However, the guests later posted a post on social media, claiming that the raft had sold the dish at too high a price. Mr. L. proactively contacted the guests and refunded 30% of the total bill. The guests then removed the post on their personal page and agreed not to make any further complaints.
