According to the plan from May 17 to 20, Tam Chuc Pagoda - the largest pagoda in the world in Ba Sao ward, Kim Bang town, will host activities within the framework of the 2025 Vesak festival, including the procession of relics of Buddha Shakyamuni.
A representative of Tam Chuc Spiritual Tourism Area said that during the Vesak festival, visitors and Buddhists coming to the pagoda will be exempted from boat and electric car tickets (currently listed ticket prices are 250,000 - 480,000 VND/person/trip). The organizing committee will mobilize about 300 - 400 electric cars and may use more passenger cars if necessary to meet the travel needs of people and delegates on this occasion.
The pagoda will also prepare about 50,000 free vegetarian meals each day to serve guests. According to the organizers, on this occasion of welcoming the Buddha's relics, Tam Chuc Pagoda will welcome 40,000 - 70,000 Buddhists and tourists each day.
In addition to worshiping the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni, visitors to Tam Chuc Pagoda will experience many more meaningful cultural activities such as celebrating Buddha's birthday on the morning of May 18, praying for national peace and prosperity, and pilgrimage on the path of enlightenment.
It is expected that at 5:00 a.m. on May 17, the relics of Buddha Sakyamuni will be escorted from Quan Su Pagoda ( Hanoi ) to Tam Chuc Pagoda and enshrined at Tam The Palace for monks, nuns, and Buddhists to come and worship. Opening hours are from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day.
At around 12 noon on May 20, Tam Chuc Pagoda will hold a farewell ceremony and then the Buddha's relics will be taken to Noi Bai International Airport to travel to India.
The organizers said that during the festival, Tam Chuc Pagoda will not accept any fees from all residents and tourists who come to worship the relics, will not accept wreaths or offerings, and will not perform offering rituals at the place of worship.
To ensure security and safety for visitors and Buddhists visiting the relics, the organizers recommend that people follow instructions, line up in order, do not cut across the procession, remain absolutely silent, and do not take photos or film inside the relics.
Children under two years old and those wearing inappropriate clothing will not be admitted to the Buddha relics site. Elderly, infirm or disabled people will be given priority lanes.
