To make room for the Ben Thanh - Tham Luong Metro construction site with 9.1 km underground, Ho Chi Minh City had to relocate the largest volume of electricity, water, and telecommunications works ever.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR - the investor), on June 22, the electrical works within the scope of Metro Line 2 project (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) will be relocated first, then the remaining items will be implemented in turn from the third quarter.
Currently, the compensation estimates for technical infrastructure works have been approved by specialized agencies such as the Department of Construction, Department of Transport, Department of Information and Communications, etc. The investor has also approved the construction drawing design and estimates for the corresponding bidding packages.

The Ben Thanh - Tham Luong Metro has a total investment of more than 47,800 billion VND, passing through 6 districts: 1, 3, 10, 12, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, more than 11 km long with 9 underground stations, one elevated station. The project was previously scheduled to be completed in 2026, but encountered many problems so it is being extended to 2030, with two years of defect repair and warranty.
To date, the site clearance progress along the entire route has reached nearly 87% with 508 out of 586 cases handed over. The main problem in District 3 is related to the compensation unit price. Relevant units are speeding up the handling process to ensure the handover of the entire site by the end of this year.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport agreed on a traffic diversion plan to relocate and re-establish technical infrastructure works of Metro Line 2 at two open-cut sections and 10 stations of the project. The investor was required to develop a plan to coordinate construction at each location, in order to shorten the time, avoid digging and re-establishing the road many times; at the same time, organize appropriate construction segments to avoid congestion.
Ben Thanh - Tham Luong is the second urban railway line in Ho Chi Minh City. Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) started construction 11 years ago, is currently about 95% complete, and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
