With the increasing number of Muslim tourists visiting Da Nang, the local tourism industry is actively expanding and upgrading its culinary services to meet the demands and standards of this market.
In 2025, Da Nang tourism is a favorite destination for several countries with large Muslim populations such as India, Malaysia, UAE, Singapore, Indonesia… demonstrating that the demand for beach and resort tourism in Da Nang continues to attract Muslim tourists.
With the Middle East, South Asia, and the CIS market identified as high-potential customer groups with stable growth rates, Da Nang's tourism industry is actively expanding international flight routes to these markets, while also promoting research into specific cultural and religious characteristics to improve service quality.
Halal tourism is understood as tourism that is friendly to Muslims, ensuring that the tourism services provided are in accordance with the specific requirements of Islam.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, almost all Muslim tourists strictly adhere to Halal regulations. These include: food must be certified as compliant; absolutely no pork or related products are allowed; no alcohol, spirits, or ingredients of unknown origin are consumed; and animals must be slaughtered according to Islamic regulations. For certain groups, such as the Shia, the rules are even stricter, including avoiding certain types of seafood. Beyond controlling ingredients, Muslim tourists also highly value cleanliness and purity.
A positive sign is that Da Nang now has over 800 establishments serving Muslim-friendly food. These include approximately 40 Halal/Indian restaurants specifically for Muslim customers, over 10 establishments with Halal certification, over 100 vegetarian restaurants, and more than 500 seafood restaurants and eateries with menus and service styles suitable for Muslim customers. Notably, some establishments have prestigious Halal certifications, such as Sun World Ba Na Hills and Halal Indrapura…
As a resort that regularly serves guests from the Halal market, Furama Resort Da Nang currently boasts a separate Halal kitchen staffed by an Indian chef and a team of HalalTrip Vietnam certified personnel. In 2025, the Furama - Ariyana complex welcomed over 5,000 guests from India, the CIS, and Malaysia. Customer satisfaction rates, especially regarding the cuisine, were very high thanks to its adherence to stringent culinary and service quality standards.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Vice President of the Da Nang Tourism Association, believes that the Halal market offers opportunities for sustainable growth, potentially helping Da Nang balance its tourism market and reduce dependence on traditional markets. This group of tourists also represents high-spending travelers who stay longer and utilize many high-end services.
In the future, Da Nang could be developed into a "Halal-friendly destination" in Central Vietnam. This would involve establishing a chain of Halal hotels, restaurants, and services that meet international standards; and connecting Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An to form a "Central Vietnam Halal Tourism Corridor".
