IELTS certificate is directly admitted, priority given to grade 10 of some schools in Hanoi in the 2025-2026 school year

Some high schools in Hanoi announced enrollment targets and methods for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year, including direct admission or priority points for IELTS certificates.

Admission to Grade 10 at Nguyen Sieu Secondary and High School: Priority given to IELTS certificates

Sharing with Dan Viet Newspaper, a representative of Nguyen Sieu Secondary and High School, Cau Giay District, Hanoi, said: "In the 2025-2026 school year, the school will enter its 13th year of teaching the Cambridge International Bilingual Program from Checkpoint to A-Level (University Preparation).

Admission to grade 10 next school year, some subjects will be given priority, including students with Cambridge English/ IELTS/ SAT/ AP certificates above their age level (priority is given to candidates who have taken the certificate exam at VN236) and students with other international certificates certified by universities, prestigious international organizations recognized by the Department of Quality Assessment, Ministry of Education and Training".

Speaking more about the IELTS certificate, the school representative said: "The school gives priority to recruiting students with IELTS from 6.0, Cambridge PET from 160 or higher, who are exempt from the English test.

A foreign language certificate is just a tool, so the school only exempts the English entrance exam but does not add points or admit directly. In addition, students with high English certificates can be considered for SAT differentiation from the beginning of grade 10 and, combined with academic awards and social projects, will be considered for scholarships of 10-100% of tuition fees."

The school will accept applications for grade 10 admission from December 9 for students currently in grade 9 at the school and from March 17, 2025 for students from other schools. In addition, the school will have another registration period in July 2025 for students who submit their applications using the results of the public grade 10 exam organized by the Department of Education and Training.

Ly Thai To Secondary and High School: Direct admission for students with IELTS certificate

According to Ly Thai To Secondary and High School, the school will enroll 480 10th graders in the coming school year. Students are divided into 12 classes, belonging to 4 models: international English, high quality, class A and class D, according to their orientation at university level.

Regarding the admission method, the school directly admits students with third prize or higher in Cultural subjects at the District, City, National, and International levels; Students with an English certificate of IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 65, Cambridge PET/PCE 169 or higher; and good results in secondary school study and training (except for the second semester of grade 9).

The remaining students are considered based on their academic records. The admission score is the total score of 3.5 years of secondary school (maximum 40) + priority points (maximum 6, for students with arts and sports awards at the district level or higher). The school only considers awards in the 9th grade, if students win multiple awards at the same time, they will be considered the highest.

The registration period for Ly Thai To Secondary and High School is from December 10 to March 20, 2025. The results will be announced in three phases, respectively at the end of December, February and March 2025.
