VN-Index hovered around the reference all day, then suddenly dropped sharply in the ATC session with many stock and real estate codes hitting the floor.
The market sentiment was dominant today, causing the VN-Index to not fluctuate too much during most of the trading session. The index mainly fluctuated around the 1,112 - 1,120 point range from morning to early afternoon.
At around 2:10 p.m., the board began to be filled with sell orders. The HoSE index fell more than 8 points before entering the ATC session. Red continued to dominate the market and the VN-Index fell vertically, then closed at 1,088.5 points, down more than 25 points from the reference. This was the deepest drop in the index since October 26, nearly a month ago.
Strong market fluctuations in the ATC session have been common over the past two months. Previously, on October 17, ATC transactions caused the VN-Index to drop nearly 20 points. The next day, the index continued to drop nearly 40 points compared to the reference in the final minutes. By the October 19 session, the market dropped more than 15 points, mostly due to fluctuations during the ATC period. In sessions such as October 20, October 25, or October 27, the final minutes of the session were also decisive in determining the score.
Market breadth was heavily tilted towards the downside with nearly 70%. HPG was the stock that contributed the most to the VN-Index's decline when it fell 5% with nearly VND580 billion in liquidity. Following were VCB, GAS, SAB, and MWG. On the other hand, HAG was the only stock with a liquidity of hundreds of billions that remained green with an increase of 4.7%.
HoSE has 30 stocks at the floor, mainly in the real estate and securities groups. In addition, other industry groups also saw many stocks decrease to the limit such as CTD, GEX, HSG, NKG.
Securities is the sector that lost the most points today. Codes such as VND, SSI, SHS, HCM... all fell over 5%. This group also recorded 6 codes hitting the floor, including VIX, VCI and FTS with liquidity of over 100 billion.
Following the stock market is the real estate group. A series of codes DIG, PDR, DXG, NLG, TCH, HDC, SZC all closed at the floor price. Many stocks simultaneously fell more than 5% such as CEO, KBC, CII, IDC.

The chorus of falling indexes and increasing liquidity was repeated. The total trading value on the HoSE floor today increased slightly by nearly 400 billion, to about 20,600 billion VND. Foreign investors continued to dump their stocks but decreased the selling price and increased the buying price. They net sold nearly 440 billion VND, mainly in VHM, FUESSVFL, VPB, BCM and VRE.
