Gabriel Faure was one of the greatest French composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Fauré's works are distinguished by their melodic sophistication and compositional balance. If Gabriel Fauré is recognized as a genius of harmony, he is also considered a master of French melody.
In the upcoming performance in Vietnam, Fauré's works will be like a mirror when performed next to the music of his two most outstanding students, Georges Enesco and Maurice Ravel.
Accordingly, artist Olivier Moulin will perform solo works: "Pavane" op.50, theme and variations in C sharp minor, "Ballade" op.19 (Gabriel Faure); "Work written for Fauré" (Georges Enesco); "Lullaby in memory of Fauré", "Pavane for a dead princess", "Gaspard of the night" (Maurice Ravel).
Gabriel Fauré was a conductor at the Madeleine church in Paris before becoming an organist. He was then appointed professor of composition at the Paris Conservatory, and from 1905 to 1920 he served as director of the Conservatory.
