Positive changes in the movement to build cultural life

BDK - The movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" is one of the four major solutions to build and develop culture and concretize the Resolution of the 5th Central Committee, Session VIII, dated July 16, 1998 of the Party Central Committee on "Building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity" and the Party's policies and resolutions on culture. Implementing the general policy, since 1999, the province has begun to specifically implement the movement, over 25 years, to date it has created a clear shift in the work of building a cultural life among the people.

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Trung awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee to representatives of outstanding collectives in 25 years of implementing the movement.

Building a healthy cultural environment

Over the past time, the work of building a healthy cultural environment has been widely deployed throughout society, focusing on families, schools, communities, party and state agencies, organizations, and businesses. People have actively built a cultural and civilized lifestyle, obeyed the law, and performed well the rights and obligations of citizens.

The implementation of grassroots democracy regulations and the development of community conventions have been integrated into the movement and have been effective in many places. Through implementation, people have become more aware of their rights and responsibilities as citizens towards the community and have complied with the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.

From the general policy of the whole country, promoting traditional cultural values, building and comprehensively developing Ben Tre people has always been of interest and regularly integrated into building and improving the quality of the movement. Implementing Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU dated January 29, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on "Building Ben Tre people to develop comprehensively; happy and progressive families", the Provincial People's Committee has Plan No. 2854/KH-UBND on "Building Ben Tre people to develop comprehensively; happy and progressive families" for the period 2021 - 2025, focusing on building 10 values: Patriotism, humanity, loyalty, honesty, courage, self-reliance, self-respect, responsibility, cooperation, creativity, with specific tasks suitable for each group of subjects in the political system and community.

Thereby, the criteria for implementing cultural titles are increasingly permeated into life, family relationships, and the solidarity and closeness of the neighborhood. Cultural facilities are gradually improved, exploited and operated more effectively, richly and diversely in form and content, contributing to the development of the mass cultural and artistic movement, physical education and sports, meeting the increasing demand for spiritual and cultural enjoyment of the people.

From the implementation of the movement, many campaigns, emulation movements, many initiatives, experiences and effective models, many typical examples, good people, good deeds have been formed, spreading and multiplying. The role of the masses has been properly demonstrated and promoted, enhancing self-management, self-awareness and democracy in all aspects of life.

Cultural family is the nucleus

Since 2000, the movement and standards for building “Cultural Families” have been widely deployed, the human factor and family have been identified as the center and foundation for construction and development, creating good awareness and consciousness. Cadres, party members and people have actively implemented it through concrete actions.

Building a cultural family is also considered a task to train the moral qualities and lifestyle of cadres and party members, especially leaders, receiving the consensus and support of all classes of people, contributing to enhancing the role and position of the family in socio -economic development. The good cultural and moral values ​​of Vietnamese families are preserved and promoted, especially moral standards, civilized lifestyle, cultural behavior, legal awareness, community spirit... From there, a new human personality and a new culture are formed, the material and spiritual life of each family is significantly improved. The results of the title "Cultural Family" every year exceed the planned target by 4-5%. The average annual title "Cultural Family" reaches over 94% (the annual target is 90%).

Ms. Huynh Thi Thuy Duong, representative of a typical household in Minh Duc commune, Mo Cay Nam district, said: “My family always takes care of building a prosperous, progressive, happy and civilized family. The movement “All people unite to build a cultural life” has practical and long-term meaning. My family always determines that this is not only a movement, but also a guideline to build a happy, civilized and useful family for the community”.

Along with building “Cultural families”, the movement to build “Cultural hamlets and neighborhoods” in the province was formed in 1997, and has now become a movement and spread strongly, closely linked with the movement “All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas” (now the movement “All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas”). During the implementation process, there have been many good models and creative ways that have gained consensus among the people. Many localities have done a good job of mobilizing resources from the people, bringing about practical results, contributing to the completion of a number of new rural criteria, changing the face of the countryside.

After 25 years of implementation, the movement of All people uniting to build a cultural life has brought comprehensive effectiveness in all aspects of life, bringing practical benefits to each subject and component in society, contributing to changing the face of rural and urban areas positively, creating a driving force for socio-economic development of each locality in particular and of the province in general.

On June 26, 2025, the Steering Committee of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" of the province held a conference to summarize 25 years of implementing the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" of Ben Tre province in the period 2000 - 2025, summarizing 5 years of implementing Plan No. 2854/KH-UBND on building comprehensively developed Ben Tre people; happy and progressive families, period 2021 - 2025.

On this occasion, the Provincial Steering Committee commended outstanding collectives and individuals in implementing the movement. 30 collectives and individuals received certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee, 149 collectives and individuals received certificates of merit from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
