Hanoi Club finished second in V-League 2024 - 2025

On the afternoon of June 15, the 1-2 loss to The Cong - Viettel and Nam Dinh's victory over Quang Nam in the penultimate round of the V-League caused Hanoi FC to lose its chance of winning the championship this season.

With a faint hope of winning the V-League championship, Hanoi FC pushed up their squad and entered the match with determination against The Cong - Viettel . However, the team under the leadership of Japanese coach Makoto Teguramori unexpectedly conceded the first goal after a lack of concentration in the defense.

In the 36th minute, Pedro Henrique opened the scoring for The Cong - Viettel after an accurate move and shot, defeating goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan.

After conceding the goal, Hanoi tried to regain control of the match and find a way to get into the goal of The Cong - Viettel. However, under the heavy rain at Hang Day Stadium, the efforts of Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Hai Long and Pierre Lamothe could not materialize the opportunities into goals.

With a 1-goal advantage, The Cong - Viettel played even harder. They focused on defending in large numbers at home to protect their results, only sending 3-4 players to the opponent's field during each counter-attack.

The annoying way the army team played made Hanoi confused and bogged down. In the 84th minute, The Cong - Viettel raised the score to 2-0 after an accurate left-footed shot by Le Quoc Nhat Nam. Although they did not attack as much as Hanoi, the army team still achieved the maximum result.

Late efforts in the final minutes helped Hanoi FC score an honorary goal. In the 90+3 minute, Pham Tuan Hai passed the ball long enough for Luka Bobicanec to run down and shoot low, shortening the score to 1-2. This was also the final score of the match.

Because Nam Dinh FC won 2-0 against Quang Nam in the same match, Hanoi FC officially won the runner-up position of V-League 2024 - 2025 with 46 points, 8 points behind the team from Thanh Nam. Nam Dinh officially won the championship of V-League 2024-2025. The capital team continued to have a blank season since the 2022 season, after parting ways with coach Chu Dinh Nghiem and changing a series of domestic and foreign strategists.

While the champion and runner-up have been determined, the battle for third place in this season's V-League continues between Hanoi Police Club (42 points) and The Cong - Viettel (41 points).

In the final round, Hanoi will play a formality match against the bottom team Binh Dinh. The Cong - Viettel and Cong An Ha Noi Club will host the two teams that have stayed in the league, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong, respectively. All matches will take place at 5pm on June 22.
