On the morning of October 27th, the draw and schedule for the 2023 National Futsal Cup took place at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). Eight teams will participate in this year's tournament: Thai Son Nam Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Son Bac, Savinest Khanh Hoa, Cao Bang, Tan Hiep Hung, Sahako, Luxury Ha Long, and Hanoi .
According to the draw results, Group A includes the teams Thai Son Nam, Sanvinest Khanh Hoa, Cao Bang , and Tan Hiep Hung. Meanwhile, Group B will be a competition between the four teams Sahako, Thai Son Bac, Luxury Ha Long, and Hanoi.
Thai Son Nam Club is in a tough group.
This is a tough group for the reigning runner-up, Thai Son Nam. Last season, Thai Son Nam reached the final, but unexpectedly lost to Saigon FC (which later ceased operations due to lack of funding), showing that Vietnamese futsal is no longer a competition where Thai Son Nam excels. Their opponents in the same group, such as Savinest Khanh Hoa , Cao Bang, and Tan Hiep Hung, are all formidable.
The tournament regulations stipulate that 8 teams are divided into 2 groups, with 4 teams in each group, playing a round-robin format to determine points. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The two teams ranked third in each group will compete for 5th place, while the two teams at the bottom of each group will compete for 7th place.
The two winning teams in the semi-finals will advance to the final to compete for the championship. The two losing teams in the semi-finals will compete for third place. The tournament will take place from November 9th to 18th at the Lãnh Binh Thăng Gymnasium (Ho Chi Minh City). The opening ceremony will be held on November 11th.
Speaking at the ceremony, VFF Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Minh Chau emphasized that the development of the National Futsal Cup in recent years has contributed significantly to the achievements of Vietnamese futsal on the international stage.
"Over the past 7 years, the tournament has delivered many high-quality matches, attracting fans and contributing to the development of futsal in Vietnam. The clearest evidence is the Vietnamese futsal team's participation in the World Cup twice," said Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau.
